Does anyone think a 12 quart bucket would be big enough to plant in or should I go bigger? also, could anyone give me the best soil ingredients and how much perlite, peat moss, etc you used?
Thanks!
as a very general rule, you will need one gallon of container for every month of growth. So, if you vegatate 1 month and flower for 2, then your bucket will work. I don't use anything less than 5 unless I'm flowering clones.
As far as mix, if you're going soiless you can use Sunshine#4 right out of the bag, or use 50/50 coco and perlite for watering everyday. For less watering, reduce perlite.
This is a general answer to a very general question.
5 gallon buckets! More room for the roots the better IMO even if you are growing smaller plants. Bigger roots=more nutrient uptake=bigger buds!
My simple recipe for success. Get the best "soil" of your choice. Add 20% perlite. Lots of worm castings, some lime and guano. Keep it simple at first. You can make it more complicated but that just increases the ways to mess it up. Don't be tempted by all the fancy advertisements for expensive nutes.
