buckets

i've now read thanks to sublime's wonderful guide to guerilla growing that you should use 5 gallon buckets planted for outdoor growing. this resolves some fears/and makes some issues easier to handle for me. one question though, will this be sufficient to grow some crazy big plants? i'm cropping some Snow White this summer, growing 10 plants of that and 15 or so of another strain, so nothing real major but enough, but i want to have some decent yeilds and get the most out of my plants. Will 5 gallon buckets allow the roots to spread out enough, or will it restrain the system and stress the plants?

5 gallon won't get you big ass plants they'll be ok but bigger is better. Wal Mart garbage cans buy a few at a time if buying them all at once is a problem for you..Right into the ground will yield the best though.

they say for every gallon of soil its a foot a plant.... buckets are good but they dry out very fast if your in a hot area and very remote./..

Big plants are possible in smaller pots but extra TLC is needed... tending to 25 plants is plenty of work for 1 person..

imo, the work/time u could save tending to your 25 plants by switching to slightly larger pots might be worth looking into.. one big inconvenience at the start or lots of little ones..

or maybe just ditch the pots alltogether.. grab the shovel and dig some holes, fill them with 5-6 gallons of organic soil, perlite, etc.. and dont worry about everything else :peace:

all these methods work, its up to u, good luck

was only thinking about buckets because of the grow guide. i'll probably just dig some holes. for 20 plants how much soil would be good to buy? i need to start investing in Earth!

conference im in the same situation...go buy topsoil and let the plant grow in the ground . dont waste ur money buying 20 times a 2x2x2 holes worth of dirt. i am gonna break up the soil in my geurilla spot and just add about 1 foot to each hole. this should work im hoping

my thought on the buckets was to save time by having the plants in the buckets at time for transport/transplant and then just dig a hole, throw the bucket in and leave spot one to go to spot 2 and repeat 5 times a day.

thought of mine was to saw the bottom of the bucket off and plant a bottomless bucket. the buckets i have found are ones that have a detachable bottom to them, so in transport, just keep the bottom on, when i plant them, take the bottom out, exposing the bottom to the soil beneath, allowing the roots to grow through while taking benefit not only from having control over the soil, but having no bottom to restrict root growth. good idea? or waste of money?
