Buckleys DM (DXM)

Just bought 2 bottles of 150ml of Buckleys DM
Here's a link showing exactly what it is and what it has in it:

I was thinking I would drink both bottles to get a total of 750mg of dxm from it.

But i was wondering are all the other non-medicinal ingredients(mainly worried about ammonium carbonate) safe to consume in these high amounts?

i know that the only active ingredient is DXM

but I'm just wondering about the ammonium carbonate, camphor,menthol,etc.
On erowid it says these herbal ingredients MAY not be appropriate in high doses (If i do it I will be drinking two 150ml bottles little over 10oz of syrup total)

I'm just wondering if anyone has used this syrup recreationally and how they handled it

The Camphor is the only thing I would be cautious about. Many people have the complaint of "Lavender Burps" after consuming Benzedrex/Vicks Inhalers, due to the Camphor.

"In larger quantities, it is poisonous when ingested and can cause seizures, confusion, irritability, and neuromuscular hyperactivity. In extreme cases, even topical application of camphor may lead to hepatotoxicity. Lethal doses in adults are in the range 50–500 mg/kg (orally). Generally, two grams cause serious toxicity and four grams are potentially lethal."

I guess, try and see the percentage Camphor and calculate if it would fall near that dosage range.

Well i found out that there is about 2.2mgs of camphor per 5mL of syrup which works out to be 132mg of Camphor in 300ml of syrup.
I know this is way below a dangerous amount but even so I have found some other posts on other sites where people have taken way less amounts of this exact syrup and puked and it wasn't pretty.

So my conclusion is that I am not going to drink this stuff at all (for recreational purposes) nor do i recommend anyone else to do so.
Saving it for when i actually do have a cough

After reading about that agent lemon extraction method I think I am gonna try it tomorrow as it does look fairly simple.
I just hope I can find the required materials.(I live in a pretty small town)

I will try to post the outcome of this extraction later on tomorrow if I am actually successful in finding the materials and doing the extraction itself.

Well the extraction process is complete.
Materials used:
300ml of cough syrup(750mg DXM)
Goldex Ammonia(clear fluid, didn't foam up after shaking,phosphate free)
Ronsonol Lighter Fluid
Real Lemon Juice
Glass Jar
Glass Coffee Pot.

Start to finish probably took me about 90 min.
Every step of the way my product was matching up quite well with the pictures on the site so I'm happy with.
End product was a orange-brownish color, smells like ass.

Will be testing this in about 2-3 hours.
I'll post how the trip went tomorrow if there is a trip to be had.

Congrats. :-) Start small and work up, this isn't cough syrup. It is relatively pure DXM. It will hit you differently, and harder than you are used to.

tech its dxm hydracitrate (sp?) but yes the agent lemon WILL hit you diff BUTT better off

Well i drank the whole thing about 15 minutes ago (horrible taste, tasted like rubbing alcohol at least there wasn't much to drink)

Not feeling anything yet....

1 hour and 20 minutes later

Feeling a little lightheaded and tipsy, i would say 1st plateau
Wondering if I used enough Ronsonol Fluid during extraction
Decided to drink another 120ml(4oz) bottle of syrup 360mg of DXM :)

Never had Buckleys, but pretty much ANY other DM syrup i've had in doses exceeding the 10 oz range.. Look for any syrup containing 15mg DXM per 5ml.. and you should have a good time on an 8 ounce bottle..
