Good question. If it doesn't have chlorophyll I don't see how it could convert energy. I don't think a variegated leaf here or there would cause a problem. I've seen quite a few mutations, I like leaf buds.

I'd imagine it would, some variegated plants are like half and half so they must absorb light

It is variegated with the camo and I haven't gotten a clone @Dr.Pecker but I may take one when I clean her up this weekend. I'm hoping one of the other two pineapple beans I have do the same thing. No guarantee as each seed is different.
