Bud Rot: Barney's G13, Phat Furity

So I've got some G13 and Phat Fruity going outdoors. Semi-guerilla grow. My G13 is doing good, but we have had a lot of rain lately. It's about 4-5 weeks out. Lately, after the rain, I have been going to the grow spot to shake water off the plants. So far no bud rot, but with the long term weather outlook I am rather worried. I will just have to keep shaking the water off, and see how it goes. They are tall and skinny, so that helps. Now my phat fruity is anther story. It was stunted early on in growth and is only about 15 inches tall. But its location doesn't get much wind and the buds are a lot more dense and thicker. It is only about 3 weeks away. I went to check it yesterday after it had been raining the last two days. First time in a week or so I have checked it and it has BUD ROT. CRAP. They way it grew it split into 3 main colas. I completely chopped off the main cola with the worst rot, and picked away what I could on the other colas. Should I just chop the whole thing? It is far from done, but is frosty, just still has some new pistil growth. I doubt the bud rot will get better, especially from the humidity and weather wwe have been having lately. So should I chop the whole thing and see how it dries and cures out? Or let it go and hope for the best?

How do fellow outdoor growers take precautions for bud rot if they need to be low key and doing a guerilla grow? Grow sativas only? I had some Diesel autoflowers that had bud rot last year.

i had 1-2 small cola's get a small amount of it. i chopped the colas in half and saved the bottoms. they're still growing with no symptoms at all. I also smoked the green tops of the colas and got stoned. i would only chop the whole thing as a last resort. try chopping the parts that are effected first. worked for me, and this is my first grow, but it's going quite well

Niknasty-Thanks for the reply. That what another one of my ideas are. I did my first outdoor geurilla grow last year and everything besides my autoflowers did FANTASTIC. I had LA WOMAN, Barneys LSD and blue cheese. And some Skunk #1 cross. My G13 is looking great....I just wish I would have LST'd them or topped them.

np man, so many people have helped me on this website so i feel its only right to give back what i have learned. I wish i had your strains to play with lol. I just grew some bagseed and got a random purple strain so i got lucky. but good luck with the rot, it's really shitty that you work so hard on somethng for mother nature to come and ruin it. good luck to you, i have a week of rain ahead of me so i will be prayer to the gods of mary jane that no more comes around.

Damn. Soaking rain all day today, with ore rain for the next 4 days. Hopefully littered with some sun inbetween. I really didn't work that hard on this grow. For some reason, all my plants were stunted early on....They were 30 days and barely 3-4 inches tall. So I am glad I have 4 G13's and this one small phat fruity. i am thinking with the rain, the phat fruity is no hope. I might chop it and hope for the best. It will only be around 1/2 ounce dry if that because it is so small! My G13's are about 4 feet high and really skinny buds, but look super awesome. Just like some G13's on here in the same stage. The water shakes off of them nicely because the colas aren't that thick yet. I was lazy this year and kind of didn't have a lot of time to concentrate on this grow, but never again.

In my exp the only time I've gotten bud rot was a result of root rot. I'd worry more about mold or mildew. This is when good genetics really come in place. Some or more resilient than others. My blueberry can handle anything I throw at it, where as my grape ape is so fincky god forbid me use tap water and temps over 80, it only likes RO or it has cal mag issues and so forth. Fortunately there's products for PM and mold. If your sure its bud rot than there's nothing you can really do at this point in late September except cutting infected areas to prevent spreading to the rest of the buds. I"d toss that mom if you are keeping one. Keep ones that are resilient.
