Bud Rot during curing?

I discovered last night that my last plant has developed bud rot for the bigger colas. I smoked it regardless as I saw very little actual mold, only when I broke the colas in half I saw some were browning. Im wondering if based on the pic, can someone tell at what stage this rot was in? Im trying to know when this could have started based on the progress of it in the pic. Its been curing 9 days and I dried for 5 days prior to jarring. Popcorn nugs were ok as they were also stored in another jar away from the colas.
Also wondering, since I wont be curing any longer, should I grind up all affected buds? How do I store it so it doesn't end up completely useless? I read someone posting they sprayed with a hydrogen peroxide/water solution to stop the mold from progressing, someone mentioned a quick zap in the microwave, which I did this morning, or putting in the oven at 300 for 15 minutes to stop it from spreading. As it is, it seems ok, again no ill-effects 6 hours after smoking it, doesn't smell at all like mold, still has a 'weed' smell.

The rot probably started in that first week of drying. It happens with really tight indica buds, you have to keep a close eye on them.

Ya it was only my 2nd grow and the colas were twice as big on these as the auto's I did prior. I dried for the same length of time as the twigs were almost snapping completely clean after 5 days. I know it was too early too jar, didn't burp them properly, I should have taken them out of the jar as well to rotate them a bit so they're not all stuck together in the same position. Plus it is under the critical temp of 20 Celsius in here now and little air circulation as windows are not kept open in the winter. The colas were definitely compact! I'll know to separate them better when jarring and drying for the next ones!
I also had white powdery mildew the last 2 weeks of flowering on 2-3 fan leaves and a couple tiny leaves lower. Does this mold come from the same family of mold as what the wpm was? meaning could that have been the trigger late in flowering? I don't know how fast this spreads..just want to pinpoint when exactly this started.

I think they are different kinds of fungus. Slightly drier and warmer conditions are better for those first few days.

I didn't think it was the problem either..the smaller nugs that were actually next to the wpm leaf should have been affected as well..when I hung them up to dry I inspected them closely as I was pruning them and didn't notice anything whatsoever. The 5 days of drying, it was cooler, especially overnight, maybe down to 16-17 Celsius thus higher humidity as well. I'll try to find how to store these away to make sure the rot doesn't progress.

imo: gently wash them in a solution of 10% household bleach and warm water

then dip them again in cold water

hang to dry for 10 days ...then cure

the bleach will turn the active fungus to shit

that once dried can be flicked off with ease

5 days is way too short to dry

a small fan with your cfl can avoid this
