Bud Rot Issue - Need advice

I am a long time reader of this forum and finally had a situation arise that I need help on so I've registered. I have read some threads regarding this issue along with some other sites but a lot of conflicting issues along with nothing to fit my exact situation.

I have been working on harvesting my crop and got down to the last 12 plants which are White Widow, about 12 weeks and when I was clipping the fan leaves and the bigger bud leaves before hanging them, I noticed the leaves were sort of greasy, the plants smelled kind of like ammonia and down in the buds it was brown and yellow. After looking this up, I found that it is bud rot.

Fortunately, the rot seems to not have spread so badly that the entire buds are ruined and you cannot even tell when just looking at the plant because it is all down in the buds at the base of the bud leaves.

I have the 12 plants not cut and hanging to dry (since Monday).

Are these plants salvageable and if so, what can I do to save them? I have read about burning sulfur and also some sprays. I also have some buds on my drying rack that I inspected and they appeared to be impacted as well.

These plants were the cream of my crop and from what I can tell, would be a well above average yield for my setup. If I lose these, it would be devastating.

Any advice anyone can provide would be helpful.

Man what a predicament, as alonefarmer said, salvage what you can but tell you the truth, doesn't look good for you....Sorry

All you can do is salvage the buds that weren't effected. And hope for the best.
Pretty much all the buds are impacted but for most of them, it is isolated to certain parts. Can I cut out the impacted parts while trimming and the leftover parts of the buds still be smokeable?

Welcome to RIU Philcox. I think you should cut as much of the fuzzy spots off as possible that stuff can spread. even hanging the mold will still grow. you have to put them someplace with low humidity. i had the same issues a year ago until i bought a dehumidifier. I don't know of any sprays and never heard of the sulfur thing. normally I would say dry them slowly but in your case I think it would be best to dry them fast. the problem is when the bud rot starts it will eat the whole bud up. it will break up to nothing just powder. good luck if you need more help shoot me a pm you may need to do a few more posts first though.

Does the Cervantez H2O2 soak work for bud rot like it does for PM? I mean after you cut the crap out so it doesn't spread when curing?.

There is a way to stop the damage as your buds dry you need to set up a dessicent box ie a drying box. This is not a good way to cure buds as it dries them out fast but it also stops the progress of fungus.

Go to wallmart and buy some damp rid this stuff is a solid that absorbs liquid until it is self becomes a liquid. Set up a box or small room with a layer of damp rid on the bottom. Place your infected buds on a tray or screen that keeps it above the damp rid and set up some type of rapid air circulation.

You can dry your buds rapidly depending upon the amount of dessicent (damp rid) used sometimes as fast as twelve hours your stems will be snapping and crispy dry.

Granted this is no way to cure your buds but it will save them from becoming rotten compost. Once they are dry you can still use them to make extracts or hash. You may even be able to rehydrate them a bit in a semi humid environment and pass the off as normal bud and no one will be able to tell the difference if the potency is there.

trim all brown off, be careful when cutting cause it can spread.

any affected bud is not salvagable,

should dry under low humidity as stated above to try and drop moisture

The humidity issue came from me flushing large Rubbermaid totes of coco in the bathroom connected to that room and water was everywhere. So, hopefully this is an isolated issue because I wont be doing that again.

Another question - I now have emptied the room of the infected plants. What steps do I need to do before I transplant my net set of cuttings. My clones are rooted and rearing to get out of their dixie cups. Should I go as far as replacing the plastic sheeting I use under the plants and mopping with a bleach water solution? I am planning on washing the pots with anti-bacterial soap as well as my water resevior since I usually do that anyway.

Also, I have the infected plants hanging in my room that I use to harvest and trim. The plants have been hanging for a few days, can this stuff still spread to the unaffected plants? I need to get working on clipping them because they have been removed from light and water since Friday night.

Thanks for all the feedback. I really appreciate it.

just a mop bleach and water is fine. a mild bleach for the pots. use a rag and wipe down the walls. mold comes from a spore so imagine spores flying around everywhere bleach will kill them. you don't have to get crazy with the amount of bleach either.
