I am having trouble getting my first girls to bud. I have been trying for 2 weeks. I have left the light off a few times for 36 hours. I am now trying 12 on and 12 off. Any suggestions?

Patience.
Two weeks is just ending the stretch and you wont see pistil clusters, the first signs of buds, for another week or so.
As stated, set your timer to 12/12 leave them alone except for standard maintenance and stop trying to fix everything you think isn't happening fast enough. You'll end up loving them to death.

Make sure your grow room is completely light proof. Any light leaks will cause the plants photosynthesis process to start again & then flowering will be delayed.
