Buds directly under hlg 600r turn purple, border buds dont.

Noticed something earlier. Half one of my plants is directly under the 600 r, the other half is not under the 600r. Like the outskirts of the light canopy, those buds stay green. All (most) the leaves and buds that are directly under the light are turning deep purple. Is this normal?

I've noticed this too even in high temps and my real purple truffle pig was all green under a friends hps.

Here’s a photo for reference. I chopped a large plant earlier and now the whole plant is under the hlg 600r. But prior. Where it’s green to the left was not under the light. The purple side of plant was. Just wondering why the light does this kind of neat.

To high light intensity possible coupled with to low temps.

High Irradiance response if you want a Google search term.

Not the light in itself just giving too much of it.

600 watts and a cool 67 degrees inside at night while we (and the plants) sleep.

They need more food with high intensity LED. Bump up the feed and see what happens.

Are you in a tent? What hanging distance? Those lights are reced at 30".

I wouldn't worry too much. A good led will bring the colors out of any plant. Also you don't really want to be running a led at 100% early into flower or at all

Umm, you understand that the purpling is down to plant being unhappy/over litt? The same as purple stems?

Something I've noticed is the LED companies try to get the highest PPFD they can in the smallest footprint. So the center of the footprint is way high but the edges are way down. For even coverage the Light Bar type lights seem to have better coverage and more even distribution.

After folloing LEDs for the last 10 years or so I've seen the field really advance as we grew beyond the UFO 50 watt burples to the full sun blasters we see today, all the while upping the PPFD and shedding power usage. Neato!
