BUG ATTACK!! Any advice? Tips?

Just needing some reassurance here, just to make sure everything is going smooth and on the right track! One of my babies is getting ate, and I don’t know how to help her ! I’ve been noticing these little stripped black and white bugs on my biggest plant, also i’ve had little white spiders try to home on all my plants! I’ve been spraying them with soapy water, but I don’t know how else to keep the bugs away. Constructive criticism is welcomed, and appreciated please !

I'll take a guess and say thrips, but only because I'm currently dealing with them myself and leaves on my plant looked similar.
Maybe do a google search for "black and white thrip" and see if they match to what you see/seen on your plants.
I've been spraying with water+alcohol+dawn for a couple of days and I may have won the battle, but I'm also growing indoors so its a easier to control infestations compared to outside.

Earlier this year, I left some spider mite-infested plants out with my chickens — they ate the bugs while leaving my plants alone. If you have chickens, may be worth a shot.

I’ve actually had pretty good luck with insect pests getting eaten by beneficial predators while growing outdoors. Haven’t had to spray or anything. It helps to have an abundance of diverse plants around that don’t get sprayed, which serve as refuges for the beneficial predators.

Looks more like mite damage to me. I used Safer's End All concentrate with 10ml/L canola oil added. I'm actually using it again to get rid of a few thrips from clones a buddy gave me.

Mites feed here and there leaving those random spots everywhere but thrips feed in the same area and leave what looks like little windows in the leaves. Fresh feeding areas will look shiny/wet on the tops of the leaves.

Looks like you got lots so hit them every 4 days for 4 treatments. If outdoors they'll probably be back.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! How would I apply the mixture to the plants? In a spray bottle, then massage the plant? That’s what I was doing with the soapy water anyway. How much of it should i use?

I just mix it up in a 1L old bug spray bottle according to directions on the Safer's bottle. 50ml to a litre but I also add 10ml of canola or neem oil to that for extra killing effect. A lot of bug sprays use canola oil in their formulations.

A bottle of the concentrate here costs $1 more than a litre of the pre-mixed but makes 10L so a much better deal. I'm sliding my hand up the branches and stem while spraying to make sure I don't miss even the tiniest spot. A glove is good to keep your hand from being stinky later but the stuff isn't toxic at all tho can irritate your throat if breathed in so avoid that. Keep away from hot lights and turn off the fans so it takes longer to dry to make it as effective as possible. Once I've done 4 cycles I'll rinse the the plants well with RO water in a sprayer. Can rinse the day after each spray too to minimize the slight leaf damage you might get but it's not much if any.

The bug's life cycle speeds up with temperature so if running hot like 80 - 85F I'd spray every 2nd day but if never warmer than 75 every 3rd or 4th day is better so new hatchlings are vulnerable. It doesn't kill eggs very well so you want to catch the young before they are mature enough to lay new eggs. Same thing for mites or thrips.

Good luck!
