clear the area where you are going to plant of all grass trees bushes ect. or use a pest aside that you can use on vegetables if u cant use it on food you cant use it on your weed

cedar bark accross the ground helps to repel inscets,, growing lavander repels aphids,,and if you pee around(not on or over) the plot of soil it will keep foxes and rabbits away.
theres a few threads on sacrifcial plants that can be grown along side the green to attract the pest. tabbacco is a good exampe.#goodluck.

do you wash off the pest aside before use?

Most insecticides that are safe for food breakdown into harmless compounds. However, it is good practice to wash all food before consumption, regardless of the point you were getting at.

safer soap and just foliar spray with fish emulsion 3.1.1/super thrive and maxi crop helps keep um off neem oil is good but not when flowering any organic pest-aside will help just get a few different and switch off

i have another question... would it be possible to start the plants outside? to do this would be ideal for me. i was planning on waiting till april to start, but i have read that to start the plants outside is "out of the question" The spot i have picked out has plenty of and is hidden from a majority of the harsh weather due to being surronded by a thicket. and there are some tree that i left standing to help break the rain fall. i have stood in this area during a storm and wind isnt to bad, i dont think the plant will be up rooted from it. is it still out of the question?
