My strips showed up today, I have been doing some reading and I have a couple questions. I did read the build threads and links as well. I would like to build 2 6’ x 2 or 3 strips wide light bars to supplement my hid and pull 600 plus watts, 300 a side. The hlg 320h 48 is 6.7 amps 48 volt, I’m assuming this would run 6 f series strips at just under 1.2 amps with little to no cooling, or would I need heat sink? What’s the difference between 48 and the 48B. Is there a driver I could run let’s say 20 of these or am I looking at 2 drivers regardless. I want to run a light bar down each side of my room, room is a total of about 6x7x10 and my canopy is around 5.5’ squared. I have 1600 watts of hid hanging @ 9.5 feet. I want these to add to it in the 4K spectrum. I was eye balling just grabbing 2 of the 320s or the 480s, I have a total of 26 2ft strips. Looking to up to 18 of them, 9 a side or 6 a side, not sure. Appreciate any advice, I’m a HID user.

Ok thank you, think the one has a built in dimmer, I would want a dimmer function, could add it, not a biggie.

There is also the erpf 400-48 and they are half the price. I’m still trying to learn what the differences are. I’m kinda just going off the 1.8a max 46 volt per, and aiming for 1.2ish from what I have read here. Unless I’m missing something, selection should be straight forward. I don’t see 46 volt so 48 I assume is the norm, constant voltage as I’m dealing with amps not watts when selecting, basic math there but I’m lost in the heat and efficiency thing, I’m just going to wing it at more strips at lower amps. The tag on the strips would indicate they are 55 watts a strip. I’m leaning towards 9 strips a side so I can stay above the 300 watts at the wall and not run them full.

This was my idea anyways, the orange is the bars on the left pic and the right side the orange is the strip configuration, 6 or 9 a side. Will prob keep the drivers remote and with the rest of the mechanical.

The HLG-320H-48A has built-in potentiometers for current and voltage adjustment.

The HLG-320H-48AB has built-in current adjustment and also Dim+ and Dim- wires that you can attach a dimmer to for current adjustment.

Awesome man, yeah I usually shoot him a email and tell him to give me a price etransfer shipped. It’s my number one spot, his prices on bigger things are cheapest I find. My chiller was cheaper threw him then eBay or amazon, my stealth ro and same with the co2 controller I just got. I never have been to the store, just phone and email.

Thinking either two 320h-48a’s or two 480h-48a’s, just wondering if anyone has input on the configuration. I rather buy drivers I could use if I decide to build a full 6x6 led and add some 3-3500k strips. Also, can anyone tell me if this is setup in parallel, from what I understand, it will be.

Shit, I should just build a 1k fixture and replace the DE, I’m getting ready to turn the lights on for another 4 months here, just finishing the ac and co2, looking forward to this winter run. I’m open to ideas if anyone can point me to some strips to complement these for veg/bloom as well if I did just do a 30-40 strip rack.

Yes. With these drivers and the 2ft. F-Series double-row strips, you would wire them in parallel.

I was just looking at some options on how to mount and set these strips up too. I need to do my research on how hard these can run for minimal sinking as well though. Look forward to seeing what you and others come up with since a lot of people scooped these up.

I was looking at doing something like 4 strips per baking sheet (I have 16 total of these strips). Hopefully someone else can help you out a bit on whether it's a smart move or not though.

I think I saw those when they were cheap as well, I wasn’t sure either so I just left it for now. I can get aluminum stock here and I have a small metal break as well, sold my aluminum spool gun so won’t be doing any welding. I was picturing strips of aluminum bolted or riveted together with the strips attached with thermal tape, the whole fixture would absorb heat. I doubt light fixtures that use these at the rated 1.1amps use heat sinks but I have no experience with this shit so who knows, I will find out anyways :lol: Another thought for your scenario, a old 2ft t12 box light, kinda solid housing, if you got 2, you could make a fake bed inside one to get the strips out of the edges and even mount the driver under them on the other box. Not sure if that makes sense.

Even these, other then different voltage, why wouldn’t they work, cheap.. 21” 48 diode 3500k.

Anything even cfls can be used to grow, some are just less efficient than others.

The samsung h and f series put out almost double the lumens/watt and can be run higher current. These things are pretty basic to lookup instead of posting random sku# from arrow and asking if its good.

Anyways, as of now, decided on 12 strips on 2 320h drivers, will save the rest of the strips for a bigger rack with some lower spectrum strips at a later date. That put everything at the rated amps plus that 2 volts. I can see now there are only so many drivers that work in a set configuration and going to 18 strips seems like a waste in my scenario. Other drivers give me odd strip amounts. I can add the 2 bars and keep my 1600w of hid in place this way, out of time to shop for more strips and if I go further it’s just going to turn into a big project. Will post some pics when I get something rigged up. Thanks @Barristan Whitebeard for tolerating my simple questions, appreciate it.

That's what was hanging me up on grabbing some of the 2700k ones I got. Wasn't sure if the large dip in efficiency made it a worthwhile venture, but in the end I figured that running each strip around/under 10 watts per would still give some benefit, albeit not very efficiently, to the whole red spectrum up to the 730 region that the f/h series 4k 80 cri's seem to be missing. So $36 for the 20 of the 2700k strips shipped to me seemed worth a try. Again, still not sure if it was really worth it in the long run, but will try and test some things out on some random plants here relatively soon.
