Building my first growbox [Could definitely use all the help I can get throughout it]

Hey guys this will be my first time ever growing so try to bare with my noobishness. I've done some reading for the last month so I've educated myself enough to where I think im ready to make the jump and do it.

I plan on turning this old Coke Trunk into a grow box (Included pictures so before I go further with it and waste my time by all means tell me if you don't think itd be suitable to grow inside)

I plan on using the DWC method of growing inside of it, that seems simple enough to build however I'm not the most talented handymand and am a bit worried about the grow box itself which is why im hoping you guys can help me out throughout the build process. I will update and post pictures

I plan on making my first trip to the Local Hydroponic store today, so please guys help me make a list of everything I'll need

Btw I'd like to make this box as stealthy as possible
PS before someone mentions the huge ass stain my dog pissed in it.

Growing w/ DWC one plant should be plenty.

Roughly how much of a harvest do you think I could get out of a single plant in a box this size?

what are the dimesions of the grow and wattage of light?

Roughly 2.5 ft tall x 1ft wide

THoose bigger 65 watt bulbs make some heat, and w/ cfl's you want to be able to get the light as close to the plant as possible. I would recommend looking into running more smaller cfl's, like the 23 watt ones, put as many of them in there as you can , above around and even below. they don't make allot of heat so oyu can get them very close, and they are cheap and easy to find, mix up the spectrum too.

Idon't think you will yield much with 2 of the 65 watt ones. I think you would have a better chance of getting an ounce with many of the smaller cfl's

Haha Im already stuck trying to wire my PC fan to a cell phone charger. Charger doesnt seem to be putting out enough voltage to spin it or I just shorted it. Either or

you are probably better of getting something bigger, it seems like a cool idea, I actually turned a desk on its side and covered it, i have about 4 X 4 X 5 feet tall, and i was already thinking how to make it bigger, you don't really even need an enclosure, One can buy some black tarp from homedepot and just hang them all the way to the ceilings, unless you're trying to be super stealth

I would rather stay on the stealth side, If I could be fully open about it trust me I would.

The actual dimensions are 1 x 1.3 x 2.5 ft I should be able to atleast get one good growing plant in there. However it'll be a bit of a waste of money to build a grow room out of such a small area.. damn
Aslong as I can get 2 oz or so each harvest im happy. Itll be my first time growing and i just wanna start small and experiment but I'm sure it won't be long before i begin wanting to expand

What do I need and how would I go about keeping it from smelling or at the least keeping the smell isolated in the grow box. I know I need a carbon filter or something along those lines but im not quite sure how it all works.

I would go bigger, you are gonna be hard pressed to get 2oz., i think you are setting yourself up for disappointment. They are other options for odor control, especially if you have to be really stealth. you dont have a closet you can use? old pc power supply good to run pc fans.

Dont let me dicourage you though, many RUI members grow in that size or smaller even, just dont set your goal too high. Do some searches on pc case grows. that will give you a better idea on yield and growing methods for micro grows.

Sodas arent good for the body.

cool looking box shame the shape is not ideal as you said its very narrow.. the way the light spreads down or lack of spread in these type of shapes makes the plants grow bolt upright causing bad shading problems

a screen is a must in that i think to control the colas from shading each other i would only put 1 plant in that, 2 plants will totally shade each other 1 plant could easy fill that space topped and scrog

you will need to remove alot of weak/bottom growth and leaves too or you will end up with less bud and more leaves in that space

i can see it working ok but you will need to really train and trim the plants in that space to get the max amount of bud out of it .. good luck

I would if I really had any other options, It's not so much I HAVE to be stealth about it I just dont have any closets or anywhere enclosed I can put it and I don't want to have some random grow box standing in the middle of my room, atleast this will blend.

I saw someone who on there first harvest got over an oz in a PC grow box. I have enough room for a plant to grow to atleast 2 feet comfortably.


Perhaps I'll try to find another option though, I was originally going to go with a PC grow box but this seemed like a better idea.
