So I began my venture yesterday. I have many seeds germinating and I am trying to be prepared by the time they are ready to go into the plastic cups.
They grow room is only 2.5 ft by 2.5 ft by 1 ft. and it is lined with aluminum foil, shiny side out. I have two 60 watt strip lights to go in there, one for each side. The strips plug right into an outlet, and they came with cool white bulbs (tubes). I bought some fluorescent gro-lux bulbs (tubes). tthen i have a hanging fixture for the top, just a reflective metal thing I can plug into an outlet and then put a bulb in. This thing says not to use more than 300 watts in it. I bought a 175 watt MH bulb, and 100 watt HPS bulb.
Once I move on from germination, Im going to set up the two gro-lux cfls to the side of the box, and either the 175 MH light to the top, or the 100 HPS light to the top.
Which bulb should I use for this early on in the process? Ive read that MH lights are great for Veg, so that is my first instinct.
Also, is there any benefit that a cool white bulb would have on the plant? Should I hang on to them for any growing purposes?
Thanks all!
