Bulb questions

So I began my venture yesterday. I have many seeds germinating and I am trying to be prepared by the time they are ready to go into the plastic cups.

They grow room is only 2.5 ft by 2.5 ft by 1 ft. and it is lined with aluminum foil, shiny side out. I have two 60 watt strip lights to go in there, one for each side. The strips plug right into an outlet, and they came with cool white bulbs (tubes). I bought some fluorescent gro-lux bulbs (tubes). tthen i have a hanging fixture for the top, just a reflective metal thing I can plug into an outlet and then put a bulb in. This thing says not to use more than 300 watts in it. I bought a 175 watt MH bulb, and 100 watt HPS bulb.

Once I move on from germination, Im going to set up the two gro-lux cfls to the side of the box, and either the 175 MH light to the top, or the 100 HPS light to the top.

Which bulb should I use for this early on in the process? Ive read that MH lights are great for Veg, so that is my first instinct.
Also, is there any benefit that a cool white bulb would have on the plant? Should I hang on to them for any growing purposes?

Thanks all!

do u have a ballast for the MH and HPS bilbs? they will not work with floros... but do use the MH for early stages as it will promote fast growth!! and the HPS for flowering

first of all get rid of the foil. paint it flat white or use mylar. in a box that small i would only use cfl's or the tubes only. i would also get 2 computer fans and wire them in with ac adapters. so u have air flow. the tubes should be 6500K for veg and 2700-3000K for flower. the mh and hps is going to give off sum heat.

Is it really necessary to get rid of the foil? I am willing to if people agree, but from what Ive read it seems the foil is sufficient for reflection. What makes the white or mylar better?

Thanks for the great tips so far though

well foil... people say causes hot spots... i have never had any, and i used it on a few of my first grows years back...visqueen (how ever u spell it)plastic is much better but costs a few more dollars.. the white reflects the light good and will not make any of the so called hotspots
