ya cfls seem to be the way to go price wise right now for me i just got to find a good one for spectrum warm and cool ;/

Yeah, just get some 6500k cfls. Multiple smaller wattage bulbs is much more efficient and better for plant growth than one or two huge ones. Instead of a 250w cfl buy 10x 26w bulbs. The light to heat ratio is about as efficient as you will get. Any lower and the light isn't enough, any higher and the heat will force you to keep them far enough away from the plant that it forces the light to diminish considerably by the time it actually reaches the plant itself. Multiple smaller bulbs can also be situated around the plant so that you have enough lighting over top, and you can put some along the sides of the plant as well.

You really don't want to be cheap when buying your lights and fans. If you can afford another $25 you can pick up a nice 175w-250w HPS security light from Home Depot or something which is better yet.

CFL's will give great results, but you have to do it correctly which can be tricky sometimes.
