Does anybody remember that High Times article back in 70's that recommended to bury your weed so it would get moldy? There were different so called "ways to increase potency" .... That's just messed up... I almost tried it.

I think it was a Hawaiian method of curing, wrapping in banana leaves and burying in higher, dry land, or sand.
If my stoner memory serves me correctly..
preeeeetty sure it didn't involve molding....
you thinking about cheese man?

if you can source the bluedream, that strain I've NEVER seen get powder mold before, and I've been growing that strain for almost a decade.
EDIT---- powder mold that is...
it's a beefy dense strain, I've had botritus problems with it before, when it rains outside.
but NEVER inside at all, an extremely user friendly strain.
And dammmmn potent too

You aren't burying it to get it moldy, I've read about it being done in Africa, Malawi cob's. They wrap the bud in leaves and bury it to cure and ferment it. The ground regulates the temperature and humidity in dry arid conditions. There's a thread over at ICmag about fermenting weed that's interesting, supposedly really smooths it out, might be worth trying on a little bit.

I totally remember that urban legend. One of my toker friends in the '70s who should have known better actually tried it. He *might* have gotten the idea from High Times, but I was also a regular reader of that rag and I think I recall seeing an article that debunked the myth. I never believed it for a minute but I couldn't convince my smoking associate to listen to reason. I don't recall ever trying any of his moldy stash, so I guess the question remains open, but I'm highly skeptical.

I recall a lot of High Times hype in the '70s about colchicine and the Isomerizer. Colchicine supposedly can cause polyploidy, which is alleged to make weed more potent. The Isomerizer was supposed to revolutionize dope smoking by turning ditchweed into primo hash oil or something. Never happened.
