Drug laws vary by state. Texas has crazy ass drug laws, but there still are 49 other states with a multitude of laws (some conflicting each other). I highly doubt you'll get 3 yrs for 12 plants. In a super drug conservative state at most you'd face was a 1 day to a 1 year in jail (thats even if you go to jail which I doubt especially if you have no priors). Can you site your source? I'm dealing with this first hand and you're assuming I don't live in Texas. I can hardly dissect that block of information you just posted. Where does it say 3 years per plant? How come I didn't get arrested the night of the fire? Is there any way I can plea that I was growing ruderalis being that I had no budding on the plants? Is there any way statute of limitations might come into play and I never get charged with anything? Mainly though, ******CAN THEY COME TO MY NEW RESIDENCE WITH A SEARCH WARRANT?
Most importantly they can search your home without a warrant in the case of a home fire. The most basic legal argument they could make is Danger (the fire) invites rescue (turning out the fire). Danger inviting rescue is actually a legal term. Since your home was in distress and need rescue then it's entitled to be searched to see if the fire is out and what caused it.
Also when cops bust you they weigh out the entire plant (stalk, leafs, and roots in some cases). This really fucks over a lot of people but thats really how they weigh out plants. So it doesn't mater if you have buds or not.
