5 troy ounces of gold only weighs 155.5 grams and is worth $8,000. eighty $100 bills weighs 80 grams.
Its really not that hard to carry around.
It has been between $250 and $450 for about 20 years total out of the last 40. Its been above $450 for the past 6 years, where have you been? 6 years is not a "Sudden" thing. It has sat at 250-450$ for over 40 years. Why is it suddenly at $1600??????
well i took your advice and bought 2 troy ounces. one in the shape of a bar and one round coin.IMO the best place is a Coin shop or bullion dealer. You might possibly get a better deal from APMEX or KITCO, but you will wait months for your metal to be delivered. At the coin shop you can feel and select each coin/bar/round yourself. personally I like the designs some rounds have over the straight forward bullion, so i buy both. I also buy quite a bit of "Junk" silver which isn't junk at all, its just a name for old American 90% silver coinage that was minted prior to 1965. You will pay a little bit more than spot price because there is a premium for Physical, sometimes as much as 7%. Junk silver seems to have the least premium.
I also go into the thrift stores and check out all the old silverware. I have found about $2000 worth of 92% silverware and probably didn't pay more than $20 total. You can also go into banks and request rolls and rolls of Kennedy Half dollars. I usually find one or 2 silver halves in 10 rolls of them. I go to the bank and I always ask them if they have any old silver dollars. One time the bank had 15 silver dollars which i purchased for $15 in paper currency. About $450 worth of silver for $15. Another time I went garage saleing and found a guy selling his families old worn and heavily tarnished silver medallions. he had 20 of them and wanted $5 each. I had no problem giving him a Benjamin for what is $600 worth of silver.
The path to greatness begins with one step.well i took your advice and bought 2 troy ounces. one in the shape of a bar and one round coin.
yea yea yea i know, its only 2 ounces, but its a start
anyway, i plan on trying to dollar cost avg and buy some every week. just get ready, cuz since i am in the market, prices are guarenteed to plummet.
I would compair ir to Gas prices, which go up and down and have cycles but allways end up going up more than coming down over the long termIt has been between $250 and $450 for about 20 years total out of the last 40.
