Buy or build

I only have 175$ and I want to set up a small cabinet grow.

Should I buy the 20$ hps and try making my own lamp

or should i get the one from HTG?

One of the only problems i can think (with making the ballast) is how I would house the ballast components and how I would make a reflector that attaches to the socket's base

save up more money and do it right with the proper equipment, it will be worth it when it comes to harvesting

hes right but if u wanna get started just use day light cfl's for veg then probly in a month u will have enough for a good hps

isn't the 150w hps from HTG decent? I can't use a 400w hps cause ventillation will be an issue. Perhaps it wont be...

I just bought the 150W HPS from HTG but havent recieved it yet. I had the option to buy the 20$ 150w HPS but like you... i wanted to do things the right way. The 150W HPS from HTG can veg and flower your weed... Also you can alllways germ your seeds and then veg them under CFLS for a few weeks untill you get a real setup.
