Dude, don't be ignorant.. I'm telling you the story exactly as it happend... I am even sitting in the very room now it happened in (yep I took over my childhood house, as it is in a stunning area)...

Sad thing is this was even before the time of cheap electronics... electric blankets were still pretty new over here... (80's)

I think they can catch on fire, but it's rare.

I always liked one for my feet, they get so icy at night.

strange how the mind covers stuff it would rather forget...
I can still see the scarring just above my foot... the blanket melted into my leg a patch about the size of a cocktail tomato...
Don't know how I could have forgotten this....

Damn what a piece of shit, I have one from god knows when. It was my grandmas and then my parents and now I have it. Thing has to be atleast the 70's. And it still works perfect. Only use it when I sprain or pull something though.

I am removing mine from my home after reading ANC's story. This is a risk I am not willing to take. Did anyone else read the link he provided? Scary stuff, mine will be out of this house today.

I'd still keep it just make sure nobody don't sleep with it. Unless thats all its used for.

It is recommended to replace them at 10 year intervals by a number of fire departments now.

I dont sleep with it so it doesnt really matter, I only use it while im awake on the couch or something.
