Buying venting system

So last year i bought a small grow tent along with 6" everything, inline hurricane fan, phresh carbon filter, insulated duct from plantlightinghydroponics. When it was all delivered, i realized the tent was rated for a 4" venting system, not a 6". I was thinking of buying reducers and getting it to work, but the fans were too loud anyway and i felt that the filter would not work properly running through a reducer because the CFM's it's rated for would be reduced dramatically and it would fail to work correctly.

So this year im buying a 4" venting system. I built a very small cab, which i'm going to put it in. Or if that doesn't work i still have the tent rated for 4".
Going to buy a duct silencer with it and hope that it's quiet enough to sleep through.

The whole system on plantlightinghydroponics is around $300 with shipping. On ebay they sell the same systems with other brands for around $150 ish.
shipping on plantlightinghydro is like $30-50 alone, but there much more reputable brands. Cheapest price i've found for the good stuff.

should i drop the 300 on the better brands? Or get the cheap stuff from ebay for only a few grows?
Maybe there's an online store that's closer and has cheaper shipping? I live in Cali.

If i can get a few grows out of them i'm happy. :weed:

if the different is`t that big, go for quality

the Box for the ventilation is a good idea, I had the same, in the work, even got some form insulation to insulate the box to make it, hopefully, dead silent, but another idea, now I don't know your set up and where your located aso. but if you have the option to put the 6" in another room, and use some of the money on more insulated ducting instead of a smaller ventilation, you could remove the noise completely and the extra meters of ducting will make the 6" a bit less effective and at the end of the day you almost can't get enough ventilation, just make enough passive intake hole`s to make up for it and to keep just a slight under pressure in the tent, so you know all odor go trough the filter

p.s.
if you got the $ you can get some ventilations that make next to no noise, but they do cost a bit more, like 5x

Knowing what you got going on for space, lights, sealed, so on and so forth.

Use that to turn down your fan if its too loud.

(edit your in a tent lol)

the cfm from the fan out of the tent shouldnt be that bad if you have the fan hooked to the wall and the filter attached to the fan. air->filter->fan->vent. No ducting with only 1 4 inch reducer. it will work very well. Will it be reduced, maybe a touch. but you have a decent fan your plants wont know it.

Much rather put one adaptor and keep a full 6" system then shrinking. You will have a lot more cfm with a 6" fan through a 4 inch reducer then a 4" system.
