ROLF!!

I meant, largest grossing aside from peat moss, of course. Who could compete with the peat moss industry? They're RUTHLESS!

.

what about the heroin busness, their way ahead of marijuana and peat moss

good luck man, im sure youll make money if you hustle hard enough, just play it safe bro. be weary of people who want over an ounce

6 electric bills, you dont need soil and rockwoll price of seeds, likeliness to get 6oz off evry plant and coustomers to buy all of the shit. im just tryin to say the marijuana business is not where money is to be made
Then you and I see through completely different eyes, my friend.

I too am looking for a good knowledge base to help me crunch some numbers. Like cost per sq ft. as well as yeald per sq. ft. I have asked a commercial grow buddy from northern cal. His numbers blew my mind. I am sure years of experience has alot to do with upping the cash in your crop. I am curious to see what others think about how much a plant can yeild and how much space it needs.

My bud said 20 sq ft per plant and 6 months could yeild 2lbs. I am curiouse if growing huge plants is more economic than a faster yeilding plant that only yealds a qp.

If I had 20 ft sq for each plant, that would be like one 1000w HPS per plant. I just need to work out if this is the best way to go.

One consideration is that in my state you can only have 3 budding plants per patient. So in that respect growing large plants makes sence. But a crop every 6 months is a long time for things to go right.

well if you have a veg room then really after the first harvest then, every 2 months you will have 2lbs, but i dont believe in real SOG methods for commercial growing yet, but TREES arnt very practical to be making money unless your an outdoor grower!
but your buddy is about right!:weed:

the MAX I would do with 1 solo 1000watter is 16 Sqft. a 4x4 area, anymore then that your goining to need another kicker like a 400 or 600 watter, but id recommend using 2 1000watters =) thats a good light source for 20 sqft. of canopy!! especialy if your going for the tree grow, i recommend having a veg area also for a continuous harvest though!! but thats IMO.:weed:

These numbers are off the top of my head but they should be fairly close the reality I live in. I dont' know what bud would go for a gram around here, especially specialty bud like Super Strawberry Diesel, Kali Mist or Bubblegum - if someone could tell me the prices in your area I'd appreciate it.

If I missed anything please make fun of me while you post. Thanks.

Garden: 8' x 3' = 24'sq : 12 plants (SSD) @ 3 oz per plant : 36 oz x 28 grams = 1008 grams : 5 grows per year x 1008g = 5040 grams per year.

.

Electricity

Veg light = 125W x 24 hours = 3 kw
Flower Light = 600W x 12 hours = 7.20 KW
Accessories = 250W x 24 hours = 6.00 kw

Total electricity per year = 16.2kw x 365 days = 5913 KW x 15.2c/kw = $898.78/yr

.

Supplies: Seed, fertilizer, Pro Mix, incidental costs
Seeds: $40
Fertilizer and additives: $500 (?)
Stuff: $195
Pro Mix: 9 blocks @ $35 per = $315
Total Supplies = $1,050.

.

Production = 5040g / year

Variable Costs
Electricity = $900
Supplies = $1,050
Total Variable Costs = $1,950

.

Set up cost
600W ballast, reflector, bulb, timer: $600
125W light and reflector: $200
Light mover: $300
Wooden cage and reflectix: $400
Instruments: $500
Tools: $200
Buckets and lids: (12 x $14) + twist ties,etc = $200
----------------
Total Set Up cost: $2,400 (could be done easily for $500, but not get all the stuff I've got. With work I could do it for $200 - ebay, second hand stuff, improvise.)

I grow
I use a light mover and the plants grow better with a 600W in a 3' x 8' cage than they did in my old 4.5' x 4.5' cage with a 1000W light.

Subcool uses only 6 hours of light to save electricity and says he gets fantastic bud. Each half of my garden gets 6 hours of light each day, but instead of all at once like Subcools it's split up every few minutes and as the light travels it gets more angles on the plant/buds/leaves - more parts of the plant get light than with a stationary plant. I get better growth with a 600W and a light mover than with a stationary 1000W.

I've never read anything on the subject but it's my hypothesis that:

- if we took 3 x one square foot of plants (gotta imagine this) and
- were able to measure the amount of energy absorbed over a 12 hour period
- on one square shine a light continuously for 12 hours
- on the other two squares switch the light to the other plant every minute

... that: more energy will be absorbed by the 2 squares swapping the light than the one square with light for the whole period.

This might be common knowledge that I don't know but I think there is a diminising return over time for absorbtion of light by plants.

.

As well I grow CCOG (like a SCROG without the screen). I've got one SSD that I'll get 3oz from a plant that is <6" over the rim of the bucket.

I have been getting 2 - 3 oz per plant but I'm still picking my mothers so I'm going through a lot of variety and not all great producers. SSD indica and mid phenos will produce 3 oz in 1.5 square feet.

The first picture is a top view of an indica pheno of Elite's Super Strawberry Diesel and the next are 3 SSD's that I germed at the same time - indica, mid, sativa phenos. With <6" solid indica to 18" sativa with fluffy buds the 600W light penetrates and hits every bud. Most of the buds stick up like colas, very much like a scrog.

.
This second picture is a side view of the 3 phenos I got from 4 females. All germinated at the same time, feed the same food, same lights.

I've never ordered from them but this guy has confidence in his strains - Cash Crop Ken

.

Bubblegum - Serious Seeds: good yield, 9 weeks, beautiful high, amazing taste. A real treat, specialty bud.

Chronic - Serioius Seeds: Large yield, great stone.

AK47 and White Russian would be great potent strains; Kali Mist takes 14 weeks to flower so you'd have to have some wealthy customers.

.

Endless Sky - Dr Greenthumb: good yield, potent stone, 42 days flower.

.

Jack The Ripper - Subcool: great 8 week sativa, super duper potent, good yield.

Check out all of Subcool's strains, I can see Querkel being a high demand strain, same with Agent Orange.

"can you give me the link to your light mover"

I have a Light Rail 3.5, they have a commercial model (5). Very simple, a motorized pulley and an aluminum rail. Get the Robo arm to help attach the reflector. I did some research before buying, this model is reviewed well and I've never had a problem with it. I would buy the 5.0 heavy duty model for the extra $100, for the robustness in the heavier motor.

"when you talk oz's are you talking dry or wet wait,"

I'd be estimating weight based on a 4 week hang/dry/cure. I never weigh, about 2 liters of trimmed dry bud per plant - 8 cups. I figure a zip lock bag would be an ounce (from my buying days) and estimate weight from there. But literally 2 x 1 liter Zip Lock screw top jars of dried trimmed bud from a 4 cola Bubblegum or from a CCOB SSD.

I have two clones flowering now, I always have bubblegum in my garden. Maybe I hit a freak pheno but bubblegum is pretty much the best producer I have. I had been growing double topped (4 colas) with the plant buried deeper on re-potting so the bud starts 3 or 4 inches from the dirt. I'm growing CCOB with my two clones this time around and I'm expecting a bigger yield than ever, I just hope the branches aren't too long for this type of grow.

I always assumed that Bubblegum was considered a very good yielder. I'm growing Serious Bubblegum, which have you grown?

The only secret I figured out is to use Fox Farm solubles as soon as stretch is done in flower. I've gotten 2.5X the yield between two Kali Mist clones in side by side separate 5 gallon DWCs, with (General Hydroponics / Fox Farm solubles) after stretch as the only difference.
