cal/mag question, based on ppm of water

Ok guys...the ppm of your tap water is irrelavent to this particular question unless youve had it analyzed and actually know what those "ppm" actually consist of. It could be pure perfect nutrients for your plants or it could be all sediment that will reak havoc. Only way to know is to run with your plants and see what happens with your personal plants on your own water. So either, try it, test it, or get an RO system and bypass it. (I vote for option #3 personally)
