Cal mag

What’s up ppl? I’m still new to growing and I don’t know how to count the weeks as far as seedling stage an veg so I’m a just say that my plant came out the soil on dec 22. I’ve been doing a lot of reading and have heard many different opinions. My question is do you use cal mag only when you have deficiencies or is that something that you use on the regular? I’m growing blueberry auto in a 5 gal smart pot in fox farm soil with a 300w led mars hydro. I haven’t given it any extra nutrients or anything just distilled water. And also when should I start using the fox farm trio? Any tips or or input would be greatly appreciated. Here are a few pics so y’all can see my baby.623AA261-73CC-4AE5-9B00-34286D2FA502.jpegB501D9DD-5FBC-4EED-88D9-859FEFA2F2F7.jpegC5EADBA9-B96B-420A-BA7F-88498E8602E2.jpegDA3AE593-BABC-44C8-ABA6-4337C90F986C.jpeg

Hello! If it were me, id wait maybe a week or so, till giving her any nutes (like i said, thats just me personally). When you start giving nutes, only give 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommended dose in the beginning. When i feed my girls, i always add a little cal/mag in there. But again, thats just me. Your plant is looking good! Keep it up!

Thanks for the info. I’ll make sure to keep that 1/4 strength of nutrients in mind.

LED lighting and use of RO water are usually reasons to supplement Cal/Mag. Your 3 part has it in it already, but with the use of LED lighting, and RO water being devoid of all trace elements, a supplement is usually required to keep from going deficient. You can start feeding now at a low dose if you like (1/4 strength as recommended above). The plant will tell you when she is hungry which is often by signs of yellowing and necrotic leaves near the bottom of the plant & older foliage. Your plant is looking well so far. Keep it up & welcome to RIU.

I tried fox farms ocean forest (ffof) several times, just starting out. Always showed defs around weeks 4-6. I'd start feeding 1/4 nutes at around week 3-4. Watching the tips of the leaves, for turning yellow or brown (worse), work up to your full strength dose.

I’ve used Ocean Forest with all of my grows. I’ll usually flush the soil (to where runoff is about 650-800) ppm’s prior to planting. Then w OF, I won’t use nutes until at least week 5 after pop. Even then, I’ll start w 1/8 nutrients—1/4 is still a bit much imo

I’ve never gotten to a point to where I’m using more than 1/2 of suggested feedings for FF nutes. Have you ever had a plant that could take the recommended dosing?

I use canna.
To mickey's passive point, you'll see burning(the yellow or brown) probably before full strength is reached. If you see tip burn, then back off your nutes - that should be obvious.
