Calcium Carbonate and Vinegar to produce CO2?

Well I know calcium carbonate and vinegar produce CO2, but what I'm not sure of is how fast the reaction takes place and how long it last. Any chemistry buffs out there that can help me out with this?

Why do you think you need to add co2? If you are growing in any residential environment there is plenty of co2. Only large grows in sealed environments like greenhouses need co2.

That's like saying only race car drivers need better fuel efficiency but not the everyday driver. Or only professional weight lifters could use extra protein and not the hobbyist. I'm not in the NHRA but I still like my car to be as fast as it can on the 1/4. True I've had several great harvest without the NEED for CO2. But if I can get an extra 1/4 to 1/2oz a harvest then thats 3 to 6oz a year for a few bucks.
