Calderon on AZ Immigration Law Before Congress

So I am reading all the people complaining about many of us not liking the AZ bill, and saying how the Mexican President was out of line in his speech to congress.

I watched the whitehouse lawn speech that was about 4 lines long, and said almost nothing about anything other than the usual we are partners stuff, and now am looking for the full speech he gave to congress, and got through 15 pages of google links to videos about this that only have about 2 minutes of the actual speech on the right wing/libertarian/republicans or whatever they are calling themselves blogs or posts they made on youtube, and not one full length from the bunch.

So it really seems like almost nobody has actually seen the full thing and that usually means that the people posting about the horrible nature of us commie left wing illegal loving liberals being against this law have just listened to the republican blogisphere and what they told them to think about it.

So can anyone actually post a link to the entire speech so that I can see it and form my own opinions about what he said. I am not going to just take the people's opinions that have used the term wetback's opinion on what he said, and I don't want to just think they are wrong either without seeing it first.

Any help would be appreciated.

Calderon says HE strongly disagrees with the recently adopted law in Arizona that racially profiles.
That is hypocritical nonsense considering that Mexican police in all Mexican states are by national mandate required to cooperate in enforcing immigration laws including illegal alien arrests and deportations.

Thanks man. I highly recommend that anyone who cares about this gets a dose of how just not a big deal things that get said are. And how they become so twisted in the media and turned into some huge controversy that they are the worst thing ever. This is a good example of that. Another is the Rand Paul interview and how everyone is saying he is a bigot, I think that he is crazy for his batshit crazy theories on the Fed and Gold, but I seriously have no issue with most of his issues on American citizen freedoms nor think he is a racist.

But just like that, this has been blown way out of proportion.

At 25 minutes he presumes to tell us about our 4th ammendment and guns.
How so? He was talking about violence at the border right, and how they are getting guns from the US. I don't know if you caught the ten minutes or so before that, but he was talking about the things they are trying to do to stop the gang violence (I wonder if this is where all the they boot people from). And how the fault is on their side of the border, and how much they appreciate the help of the congress in helping them fight the battles.

And then one issue that they need help on, stopping the flow of assault weapons and other deadly arms across the border. Nothing there about our right to bare arms, just stopping their flow.

"Let me be clear, Let me be clear. I fully respect, I admire the American constitution and understand that the 2nd amendment is important for the american citizens to have the ability to defend themselves. But believe me many of these guns are not going to honest hands..... For example we have seized 75,000 guns in mexico and more than 80% of those are directly linked to being purchased in America....... And I will ask congress to help us with respect to understand how important it is for us that you enforce current laws and stop these from criminals and renew the assault weapon ban."

At 38.55 he begins to discuss mexican immigrants.
Actually around 28 minutes (right after the gun portion) he talks about immigration. And how they are trying to keep people there by improving their economy. Around 32 he talks about adding 400,000 jobs in the last four months which would help with immigration, improving life of these people so they stay, and 34:00 they have reduced the poverty from 35million in 96 to 10 million in 2006. And investments in free education for their young people and equal opportunity which is designed to improve their workforce and keep more people there.

And how all this benefits America he says (which is true) that Mexico is the 2nd largest buyer of American goods, and that as they develope better economically they will be able to purchase more, and that is good for us.

Really if you waited until almost 39 minutes you missed a whole lot of the buildup to the talk about immigration and how they are working to combat it.

I would like to laugh at the fact they all applauded him at 39:45 for speaking spanish when you know nobody knew what he was saying. It is like they are watching carlos mencia.

But he also says that migration is their problem as well, and that he fully respects the rights of other countries rights to make their own rules, and that they favor goals that work well. And that they need to work together on this to reduce the migration. Why is nobody talking about that? I mean is that not the most important thing?

If we are not working with the country that people are leaving and able to listen to what they have to say, is that not a bad way to go about it? He even said comprehensive immigration reform is needed, but just not the way we are going about it now.

at 43.55 he talks about Arizona.
Can you or anyone else honestly say that there will be no racial profiling? You think that they will ask anyone that is not white or black and have a southern accent if they have their papers? Because you cannot tell much difference between a wisconsin and canadian accent, but they may well be illegal immigrants right?

Wow that is it, he hardly talked about it at all. You guys seriously need to thicken your skins, or maybe actually watch the entire thing before you pass judgment because you got fired up before you listened to it.

The fact that he speaks on an American law that is controversial is very disresprectful to decorum.
Do we not always do the same thing? We tell the Iranians that they cannot have nuclear power, we tell other countries they cannot sell stuff to people we don't like, we place troops in most countries, we stick our noses into every other countries business.

The people that are so fired up about this, do you not see that you make us look like the spoil brat kid that is always picking on everyone else, but as soon as he gets picked on he throws a temper tantrum.

Calderon says HE strongly disagrees with the recently adopted law in Arizona that racially profiles.
That is hypocritical nonsense considering that Mexican police in all Mexican states are by national mandate required to cooperate in enforcing immigration laws including illegal alien arrests and deportations.
Are you 100% on what and how they do this? I mean I am sure you read someone that wrote a article or blog about it, but how much about their immigration reform do you really know about? Do they racially profile neighborhoods, or is it more drug cartel deportation that they are trying to do (he said something about that earlier in the speech).

And how is this even remotely comparable to us having over 3000 nukes, and over 60 nuclear power plants and telling others they are not able to have them?

Really guys, we have become spoiled as a country if this gets you all up in arms. Actually watch it, he was very respectful, and the only times he talked out in any small way about America is when it was something to do with his people and working together for better solutions. Because building a better fence and booting people will never work.

Hanimal. Yes it is a huge deal for a foriegn president to stand in front of our congress and candidly and hypocritically Strongly disagree with American laws. It is highly offensive and SOOOOOOO against decorum.
Simply because you are on the other side of this debate should not stop you from recognizing that there are limits to what an invited guest is formally invited to speak about. Decorum says that an invited guest is not invited to stand in front of a divided congress and strongly disagree with a controversial law.
Further. If the profiling you speak of is so rampant then why does Virginias law work so well. Not one single successful lawsuit for racial profiling in Virginias immigration law. If we went by your standard then the immigration service at the border is racially profiling!! they should stop because they might hurt a poor non-papered, non-english speaking person who might possibly be a citizen.

As far as the state of Mexico's immigration laws and how they treat illegals, the plight of illegals and so on. I found the link for the Speech for you. Try googling about Mexico's immigration policies and the plight of immigrants at the mexican southern border. I have and read papers from dozens of organizations. Not just a blog or 2. If your inability to find he cspan speech is any indication it may be that you are simply having problems getting pertinent information in your web searches??

lol that is your definition of 'strongly disagreeing'? Have you not heard what our presidents have said when in other countries? According to the speach he was actually saying he understands and wants to work with the US to stop this, but that the AZ law is not the way to do it, which can you at least see is not going to do anything?

What about say Isreal and the gaza strip, it is cool for us to speak out, but not ok for others to do the same? I mean seriously this is an issue for both countries, and you seem to think that it is ok for us to say fuck off we can tell you what to do but you can't tell us anything.

You say that I am on the other side of this, and are not wrong, but you should seriously take a step back and get that populist angst off your shoulders and realize he was not attacking the US in anyway.

Virginia is not on a border with Mexico last I have heard right? I mean is it not almost as far as you can get away from Mexico in america? I am sure the mexican population there is not nearly as large (470,000 out of almost 8 million people are mexicans in virginia vs 1.3 million out of 6.5 million people in Az are mexicans), and there is less chance to get confused for being here illegally when your legal. Take into account that 60% of the mexican-americans in virginia are better educated and wealthier than the 'american' virginians, and you find that the 40% is usually the ones that are here illegally here, meaning it is far easier to get it right, or at least that seems like a reasonable conclusion if what you're saying is correct.

Hell Virginia actually is pretty low on the totem pole of states I would think are worried.

I was going to type that I had found the link on C-span yesterday morning while in school, but figured I would just thank you instead and move on. The main point of this was to get the actual video on the website and to see who posted it. You really think that most people on this site have actually seen the entire speech? You know that is not very likely, they have been told what to think about this and are being good lap dogs.

Let me ask you this, you really think that somehow we are in the right by telling the world how they should act, and not having a president of the people being affected by this asking to work with him on the issue because he feels the bill is not the right way to go about it.

And one more, do you seriously think that this is going to work effectively? And if you do, do you not realize that we will spend more money deporting them than we do if they send some money back home?

The first thing I thought about is how fake the war on terror is if we can't gaurd our boarders correctly.. sounds like controversy just for the sake of controversy. Wake up people there are bigger problems like the war.. no wait.. wars we are in.. korea.. the fact were getting fucked sideways by the fed. We need to get our priorities straight cause soon we might not have a country to fight over.

I cannot stop laughing that lady in that video is retarded. But I would like to point out most people that talk about the Fed sound about the same.
