You know I'm very much a newbie as to growing but I'd had some of a professional growers elite strain of Bubba Kush (BK) and it helped me cut my morphine to about 1/3 of what I'd had to take. So I went on a strain hunt hoping to find some genetics that would help me continue to reduce or get off the MS.
Without knowing anything about the controversy concerning CC genetics and Swerve specifically I saw the Pre 98 BK BX2 at Attitude and bought a 6 pack of feminized seeds. It was after that that I ran across a couple threads complaining about hermaphrodites and others about customer service. Since I purchased at Attitude the customer service issues were not applicable.
However the hermaphrodite issue concerned me. However I had started smoking cannabis back in the day when all we had was mexican brick weed that was full of stems & seeds and everything else known to god and man including Paraquat. so I figured wtf if the strain can provide what I need to keep dropping the MS I can live with seeds, so off I went.
I've been running my BK genetics from just 2 of the seeds that I germinated. Both germed very nicely and grew fast and tight. I then put them through absolute hell. As a new grower I'd been growing NFT however coming into the Mojave desert summer I knew I had to find a way to buffer the roots from the extreme heat so I went with soiless. So I'm learning soiless and at the same time temps are soaring. We spent 6 weeks this summer between 115 and 120 at 60%+ humidity. We can't afford to air condition so the plants suffered. At the peak of the heat I lost my BK trees to thrips, in just 3 days! Yet nothing I did, the heat, to high humidity, to low humidity, pH swings, insects etc.... nothing caused these to hermie. The clones I took this time I got all the way through flower, I'm chopping now. There isn't a seed to be found.
I can't speak about anything but the CC Pre 98 Bubba Kush BX2 femmed that I got but I can say that my experience with these genetics were they were bullet proof. If I couldn't hermie them under that kind of stress I wonder what would. As for Swerve and customer service I can't say but I will try another CC strain without hesitation now. Yes I'll keep a good eye on it but I wouldn't hesitate to try.
Oh and as for the smoke report on the BK it is as good as the elite BK that I got that was given to me. It also immediately wiped out the opiate withdrawal symptoms and has allowed me to cut out one more dose. So it's working well on neuropathic pain and I can't recommend it enough.
