I'll be interested to see how these do. I'm growing a different GSC ("Premium"?) under CFL's also, and I'm curious to see what their potential is under these lights in small spaces. Got mine as clones, so far they seem nice and healthy.

The folks I got them from said they can be tricky as an indoor, but worth the work if you can keep them happy. There is a little more space between nodes than on the Casey Jones I have growing next to them, so I've done a little LST'ing with them, and it seems to be taking well.

Looking forward to updates -

Thanks for stopping by Hrob, I noticed internode growth to have variation from good growth to not that much growth stretch from the bottoms going up but there veg hight seems ok with there thick stems and fat leafs, indica leaning I think. Was thinking of LST or SCROGG and stretch them females down the lights

Nice!! Plants look awesome. I like those cartons too. Talking about stretching them down the light. I always wanted to try this.

Top view (somewhat). Let the plant start growing then train it 90 degrees and let it grow horizontal. Do the same with another plant but the opposite direction. How many rows depends on your lights obviously.

And a side view. Does this make sense?

Here are a few COCs. It has a nice smell. Nice to have something different in the room. Pic on the left shows two COCs. Pic on the right is one of the COCs. I took it out of the room for a better pic. Growing in hempys.

Small plant in the front is another COC started 12/12 from seed. It's in a 1 gallon grow bag with FFOF. Here it is a little closer.

This is my first grow, but I find this aspect fascinating -- there are so many variations within using CFLs, I wish there was a way to directly compare them so that we could all learn from it. But I think there are just too many variables between strains, soils, nutes, etc. But at least with lights and watts, maybe there is something.

I got mine as clones, so this is "day one" for me:

starting_point.jpeg

I'm now on day 30 of veg, and I have split them into two closets which are kind of tight and hard to photograph in (plus I just set up a scrog in one).

This one is a taller space, and I probably will just continue lst'ing here -

end-wk4-tall.jpeg

This is the one with the scrog -

scrog_top.jpeg scrog_bottom.jpeg

I'm trying a flat light format, hoping that with the scrog on one and LST on the other, I can keep a lot of the leaves close and even to the light. At the moment I'm only using 23w 6500 and 5000 for veg. Every time I swap some out for 42w, the room heats up too much. I have a bigger exhaust fan on order for the tall room, I'm hoping I'll be able to put some bigger bulbs in after that, but currently both rooms have 10 bulbs each, 230 watts total per space.

I hope that'll be enough light to keep them healthy!

good looking plants, and a good looking scrog, nice lamp set up with your cfl's
Thanks Tim. I don't mean to hijack the thread, I'm just trying to figure out with all of the various techniques and differing opinions out there, which factors actually have the most impact. Good luck, eh?

Well it kinda happened like this. I suck at clones so I thought I would try cloning right on the plant (air layering). When the plant was 14" or so, I scraped the outer layer and wrapped a puck around it ect.... Long story short - I decided to pull the puck off and let the plant grow. This created a weak spot in the trunk which naturally made the plant lean over. This opened up light to the lower sites which stretched up nicely. As for the upper sites, just bend bend bend.

Sounds good to me. My goal is to try and find the maximum my plants can produce given my current set of limitations (CFL's, room size, limited nutes, my lack of experience! etc.), so I'm not in a rush to switch them over to flower. The plan is to veg and train them hopefully until I have a really full canopy of green before I flip them.

I've read a lot of folks who are either time driven, or simply wait until the plant is a pre-determined height and then they go to 12/12. It's already testing my patience, but my approach is to keep track of the time its taking, but not let time itself be the deciding factor. All of that is to say that I would not be surprised if mine is a 120+ day grow! Won't know if it was worth it until I reach the other side.

This is where I started the air layering then decided to pull it off. Notice 5 more sites were able to reach for the light. I didn't intentionally do this, it just happened that way.

Here are the two COCs in the 12/12 room and a bud shot.

And last but not least the 12/12 from seed COC.

This is not a CFL grow. These are under a 400. Just sharing the COC pics.
