California TO add 1-cent per-ounce per-soda! WTF?

"A study conducted showed California could raise 1.7 billion per-year if it added a 1-cent tax per-ounce on soda, while lowering obesity."

32-oz soda from AM/PM for $1.56 + $0.14 tax + $0.32 per-oz tax + $0.05 CRV.
Price marked at $1.56 NOW $2.07.

24-pack of soda, each can is 12-oz, 24x12 = 288-oz. 24 pack costs $6.99 + $1.50CRV + $0.60 state tax + $2.88 per-oz tax.
Price marked at $6.99 NOW $11.97... WTF? That's almost a 50% hike up.

As a resident of California, gas prices jumped, grocery prices jumped, merchandise prices have jumped, taxes have jumped all within the past YEAR! I am AGAINST this idea to pull out of debt, increase in pricing has shown no results thus in this state.







They are trying to get this into effect asap.
This news is from 4/20 (sorry it comes late for those Californian's that don't know).

Exactly... but it's easier to just increase taxes I guess & fuck the middle class. Nobody ever fucks with lower/higher classes. You either got to be rich or you got to be poor for benefits lol.

I disagree. I eat at BK or Taco Beezy no less than 5 times a week and I'm not fat yet. I do hate fat people though. A lot. Any way to tax fat people to death without affecting people who indulge in the typical fat slob lifestyle while staying active enough to not turn into a fat slob on the exterior?

Isn't a big Surprise... I not a soda drinker, But it just ridiculious that the cost of everything is still going up when we should have plenty of food to feed everyone @ affordable price's. The Grocey store's have to discard a lot because it becomes out dated...they should just lower the prices so people can buy it, instead of throwing it away or giving it to people to feed their pigs. But what do ya do? Dumpster Dive!!! LOL J/k

Idk what state you live in, or if they even engage in this activity, but down here... outdated food still gets sold, legally, somehow. The retail or grocery outlet (Target, Raleys, Etc) will send the food to another outlet (usually a run-down type of discount food store, privately owned) & they will resale the goods past expiration for 30-90% off. These sorts of places down here are generally fairly popular & stay in business (which isn't easy in this economy). Never seen one shut down yet.
