Psychonauts (2006) Quote:
Psychonaut: An explorer of the mind, who journeys into his/her psyche using h*****inogenic drugs or other consciousness altering techniques.

Psychonauts believe that these spiritual experiences, when properly processed, lead to long-term and positive benefits in their everyday lives.

Quote:
LSD, mescaline, psilocybin, ayahuasca: the most powerful h*****inogens known to mankind. But why do some people want to explore such extremely altered states of consciousness? For curiosity, fun, or deeper understanding? To find some answers, director Andras Kovacs M. asks the Psychonauts (explorers of the mind), who journey into their psyche and share their deepest findings. In this intense and intelligent movie, nine young adults make intimate and thought-provoking confessions on their use of h*****inogens, in the context of Buddhism, Christianity, shamanism, psychology, scientific research and drug policy.

Reform organizations, prohibitionist groups, politicians, drug war critics, scientists, and celebrities all get their say in this fascinating analysis.

Waiting to Inhale

Quote:
Waiting to Inhale examines the heated debate over marijuana and its use as medicine in the United States. Twelve states have passed legislation to protect patients who use medical marijuana. Yet opponents claim the medical argument is just a smokescreen for a different agenda-- to legalize marijuana for recreation and profit. What claims are being made, and what are the stakes?

Waiting to Inhale takes viewers inside the lives of patients who have been forever changed by illness—and parents who lost their children to addiction. Is marijuana really a gateway drug? What evidence is there to support the claim that marijuana can alleviate some of the devastating symptoms of AIDS, cancer and multiple sclerosis? Waiting to Inhale sheds new light on this controversy and presents shocking new evidence that marijuana could hold a big stake in the future of medicine.

Sicko (2007)

Quote:
Documentary look at health care in the United States as provided by profit-oriented health maintenance organizations (HMOs) compared to free, universal care in Canada, the U.K., and France. Moore contrasts U.S. media reports on Canadian care with the experiences of Canadians in hospitals and clinics there. He interviews patients and doctors in the U.K. about cost, quality, and salaries. He examines why Nixon promoted HMOs in 1971, and why the Clintons' reform effort failed in the 1990s. He talks to U.S. ex-pats in Paris about French services, and he takes three 9/11 clean-up volunteers, who developed respiratory problems, to Cuba for care. He asks of Americans, "Who are we?"

I didn't read through the whole thread to see if this one was mentioned already - but it was very good. 'The American Drug War' It goes over how the government and private companies are profitting from the war. It's currently showing on Showtime (american cable) and is on demand if your a comcast cable subscriber. I googled the name to remember which premium channel I watched it on and noticed there are some youtubes of it as well.

American Drug War - The Last White Hope

Quote:
The War on Drugs has become the longest and most costly war in American history, the question has become, how much more can the country endure? Inspired by the death of four family members from "legal drugs" Texas filmmaker Kevin Booth sets out to discover why the Drug War has become such a big failure. Three and a half years in the making the film follows gang members, former DEA agents, CIA officers, narcotics officers, judges, politicians, prisoners and celebrities. Most notably the film befriends Freeway Ricky Ross; the man many accuse for starting the Crack epidemic, who after being arrested realized his cocaine source was working for the CIA. AMERICAN DRUG WAR "the last white hope" shows how money, power and greed have corrupted not just dope fiends but an entire government. More importantly, it shows what can be done about it. This is not some 'pro-drug' stoner film, but a collection of expert testimonials from the ground troops on the front lines of the drug war, the ones who are fighting it and the ones who are living it.
