Hey erryone. I used to grow my babies under 150w hps but after realizing weeks and weeks later, I decided to change to a 1000w hps.. Its been two days and I haven't seen much change in shape of calyxes. Like most of them are orange already, few are white, but since they are orange/dark does that mean the calyxes can't swell no more? The calyxes are small but most of the pistils are orange/dark

I may be confused but am I understanding you correctly that you went from 150Whps lamp to a 1000W hps ....and you made this change just two days ago???? And your saying that the Pistles are already brown/orange or whatever color??? If that is correct.....you are not going to see any change at this point.....with pistles turning orange....thats the first indication that your plants are nearing thier end.....You needed that 100W lamp 8 weeks ago when you first put them into 12/12.....so what you see is what you get......and one other thing....do you plan on growing weed in the future????? If so....BUY A JEWELERS LOUPE .....your going to need it to inspect trichs in the future....thats the only true way to determine if your trichs are ripe......your not going to get that done with the naked eye....

thank you bear for saying that so i didnt. as many know, i like to leave long, fulky detailed posts. and sometimes im not always the nicest or most sensitive at making a point ( but who can forget when i tell them they will win the cannabis cup for worst grower and its a black cup full of mold). sometimes i just gotta say shit like that. i get a kick out of it, and i can say theres a few out there who do too.
I know ive been harsh to people many times in my life, but its usually for thier own good. i dont want to be mean, but someones gotta tell people strait up. ive only ever met 2 people who ever made me nervous enough t o keep a lid on it. one was a guy i met in the joint while i was there for a missed court hearing. he had murdered his wife and daughter. he was a psycho, and probably the only person who made my skin crawl to the point where i would actually do something violent ( im known for many thing, but not meaningless violence) because the way he talked about woman made me feel like someone should tune him up (and six big niggas ran a train on him in the shower, wasnt such a tough guy afterwards) but i still never said shit to him cause anyone capable of hurting woman is capable of stabing you in the back (or worse, in your sleep if you bunk with him).
the other guy was just not someone you could talk shit to and walk away without getting your head caved. i saw this guy beat 3 bikers almost to death in a barfight once. he just wasnt someone you wanted to have trying to hurt you, cause it was something he liked doing, and was very good at it. he was just a mean cat who liked to fight. he ended up getting his head almost cut of by some vietnamese gangsters based out of vancouver. they decided to let him go but cut him up real bad. he didnt change tho. last i heard he was in the joint for hitting a cop. someone told me they peppersprayd him and tazered him for like 15 mins. the person who told me is known to stretch facts, but i know van, and its cops. they are the most dangerous street gang out there. they treat people worse than any gang member i ever met (and ive know more than a few, ive lived in 5 different major citys). all i can say is dont fuck around with the VPD unless you want to visit the ER, or the morge.

and there is a way around buying a jewlers loupe. Get a hawk or eagle to tell ya if the cchrhrysals are ready! jk that only works if youve snffed enough glue to send you to the moon.

Don't. There is really no way to tell without using a scope. There are signs but even those can be misleading. For instance, one thing people say to watch for is pistils turning orange/red/brown and receding into the calyx. My last grow was SSSDH it was about 40% orange hairs with plenty of white pistils shooting everywhere and was over 25% amber. If I had been watching for receding pistils, I would have gone another few weeks and been much more narcotic than I would have wanted. Even still it went about a week longer than I would have ideally wanted.

^Trics can be misleading too, especially for beginners, and that's why, as your example shows, one should not rely on just one sign, but use them all (trics, pistils, yellowing of leaves/ fall effect, swollen calyxes, water usage/lack of thirst).
Regardless, I would want to see those beautiful trics even if they said nothing about being ready to chop. A good high megapixel camera (no flash but clear daylight) works too, or a cheap usb microscope with snapshot feature.
