Can a Jiffy Puck be overwatered?

I have seedlings in jiffy pucks that I have been letting completely dry out(well almost completely) between waterings. Plants look healthy for the most part but with everyone saying that overwatering is the number 1 first time growers mistake, I am getting paranoid that I too am going to make this mistake. I let the pucks become very dry between waterings and when I water I give them a good soak. The pucks are all squeezed into very small black pots that are just big enough for a jiffy, and with a drain-hole at the bottom of the pots. I water until I have a bit of runoff coming through the pots and then I dont water again until they are good and dry.

Is this the way to do it? Or should I only water until the pots are moist and not go as far as creating run-off? I will soon be transplanting into coco so hopefully I wont have to worry about overwatering once they in coco

I use the jiffy pellets also my man

I set mine in a saucer and let it leach up the water

I dont water them again until they get dry just as you would soil

Never grown in coco before though my man

you might find it easier to plant puck in beer cup after seedling has established itself. i always overwatered with these pucks or stone dry, couldnt find happy medium. good luck...peace

I have an intermediate sized pot I will be moving them into before going to the airpots. what happends when you overwater a plant? Do they show signs immediately of overwatering or is it something that slowly sneaks up on you?

...no response to that last one, I have another question on the jiffy pucks. are you supposed to leave the needing on them? I saw a video where a guy using jiffy pucks said to remove the netting so the roots dont get tangled in it, but he was growing some sort of tree seedlings. All good to leave the nets intact?

Any medium can be over watered. The best way to use a jiffy is to put it in a 1/4 inch of water and let it grab the water itself!!
