It ain't fine. It's a mess, I just don't understand why it hasn't been fixed. These problems were solved long ago on the internet, on other forums. Age doesn't kill things, stagnation does. There are some ancient forums still going strong.Nothing needs to change it's fine the way it is. People come in, look around, stay, leave. Sometimes, people volunteer information of their own volition...Sometimes people never contribute a thing....doesn't matter....that's the nature of a public forum. Ya gotta take the bad with the good.
Some guys go to the same bar every night after work...sit in the same spot...talk the same shit...eventually think that the spot in the bar is "theirs" because they created their own routine there. Truth is...it's not. It's still everyone's bar and everyone is welcome to sit wherever they want...and discuss things the way they choose to do so (within the rules of course). IF the real owners decide that THEY want to change the way things work, then it's their right, alone, to do so.
And the only people around here who piss me off are the feces throwing moneys who think they are OG experts because they've been around awhile and can ape guys doing the real brainwork. The ones who are more interested in winning arguments than finding truth. There are worse things than being wrong, but you wouldn't know it spending any time here.
It might seem like I am getting bitter awfully fast, but I started with LEDs about 6 years ago over my reef tank, growing coral instead of plants. The early days were rough, the amount of unknowns huge, and it was fun. Now everybody thinks they have it all figured out, but the ironic thing is that there are still plenty of unknowns, lots of shit science doesn't have an answer for and would be great to discuss. Instead of arguing with empty egos.
Having up to date information in popular threads wouldn't solve everything, but I guarantee it would get people up to speed with basic math and current best practices faster, and prevent some monumentally silly arguments in the future.
Oh well. What a depressing thread. But @Growmau5 your enthusiasm is awesome, so rock on. At least you are trying to improve things instead of saying it can't be done.
