can anything be done here?

Hey I've got a plant here that has just gotten out of control to the extent where i don't know how to prune it back without killing it. If i can figure out how to Add pics i will. I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with cutting a plant way back and keeping it alive basically.

Here is what I would do if it were my plant. first cut everything off that is dead or dying,cut all the straggly stuff off including all branches that have a couple leaves only. Wait about two weeks while watering and feeding as usual. Now I would remove that plant from the container its in and do some root pruning. Nothing too severe but enough to open things up a bit and repot it in a little wider but shorter container with good soil. New growth should start to come out and as this new growth becomes older, continue removing the overgrown stuff until you achieve the desired heighth with ect. this is not too complicated but its also not a quick procedure either.

Ya I was thinking it would have to be a long term fix. The plants hormones went nuts after I had to cut A LOT off due to mites that went from light population to heavy infestation over night a while back

It's odd that I see no roots where the pot is busted unless they died off since it broke.
You could just put it in a new pot of the same size or larger and judiciously prune a few branches here and there over time if its just hanging around. Or you could whack the shit out of it. I would remove no more than 1/3 at a time with recovery periods in between.

I have harvested and revegged after savaging the plant to almost nothing.
They are resilient so if you use common sense you should be fine.

I made cuts in the pot and used too much soil with the transplant. Idk why roots haven't come out. Perhaps the root growth is hindered by the 24/0 light?

I bet they wont come out to the open air.

Usually I can see when they come out of the holes in the bottom though.

i like the idea of cutting it back personally i would prune back pretty hard. it won't die. repot into a 7 gallon container. root prune by about a third. some week n will help it. and definitely some brighter light. its a weak looking plant overall.

Ya that plant has had a pretty rough life. Bad sm problem at one point and it went through a bad drought when it was a baby.

Ya a friend of mine had hideous plants like that once. They were suffering from neglect and his stupidity as a grower.
Take clones from the lower section of the plant if you can find a couple good ones. Cut off the leaves on the bottom half of the plant. Trim all the branches outside of that main V and the lower shit. Then flower it before you waste anymore light on it. Thatll probably give you less than an oz and just over a half oz. sorry if it sounds harsh but thats terrible growing. You need more light, better containers and more reading. Thats a ghetto grow with a ghetto plant, you can do much better if you cared for it properly.

Hmm you've never seen bark on a plant? This baby is 5 months old. 5gal pot. Almost half of vegetation lost to mites

Alien.. Don't talk to someone like that if u don't know the situation. I rescued this plant from a neglectful owner and made this room specifically for it and one other I saved. Wh..en I got it it was so dry at the top it was dead and crispy. And when I got it was two months old and barely a foot tall. Not planning on flowering really. Took a couple clones off it that took well and did fine with good results. So in my opinion I did a pretty damn good job saving her and I gained clones out of it. All for putting less than $50 into the setup
