I'm sure they could if they wanted to. But why would they care about some small time grow ops? Unless you have a 500 plant op you should be pretty safe man.

Look out your window right now ..... see that van parked down the road.... Probably nothing.... right? The cops have better things to do than try to stake out on line and in person to bust a guy growing a few plants, don't sweat it ......Or should you??????

I am stealing my neighbors wireless signal so tracking me would be tricky. I mean no firewall in the world can stop DEA but you would probably get busted for a million other things before they kick in your door and say"we say your posts now bend over and spread'em"

The ONLY way Anyone can get your IP and use it to "track you down" is if you click on a link to an external website that was set up by the police.

Like if there was a link www.clickme.com and you were logged in and went to the link, If the website was set up by police or the police had access they could Potentially get your actual IP. The IP would only give them your general location, like your city, and your ISP. They could contact your ISP and potentially get your account info with the IP.

But the fact is for ANY of this to happen it would require a lot of warrants and court orders, etc, from judges. So you would have to be under serious investigation for this to happen.

The other problem is, the cops or law enforcement or whoever could get the info would have absoutely no way of proving who was logged into the account at what times. All they would know is theres pictures from a random person online.

But most of us around here dont have to worry....We're all medical growers who dont sell weed....:razz::lol:

And if you dont have medical status I sure as hell hope your not sitting at your grow house, Online with internet in your name, and on here, logged in, posting pictures of your grow...lol. Dont set up internet or anything at an illegal grow house.

:peace:

They would have to subpoena rollitup or its service provider to access its records and do a forensic audit. They would have to prove to a judge that a crime has been commited and that an invation of everyones privacy was best served to access those records. It would be a long and slow process that would be very costly to convict. They would also need more than someone on here posting pics of there grow or even saying they have a 100,000 plant plantation going at the basement of city hall. The cops as well as judges know enough to not believe everything they read on the internet. I mean, I must of ran into Bill Gates and Jessica Alba at least a dozen times this month already. Also, a few other billionares who make there living growing marijuana in there mom's basement. And I can't tell you how many 20 year olds I've met that have 300,000 dollar plus sports cars.

no man im pretty sure theyr right though, everyone here has such small grow ops compared to the sorta thing they are looking for. but at the same time, dont be stupid!!! when posting pictures make sure you cant see out windows, see people, licence plates or names... i mean cmon fairly obvious things right? you do that you deserve to be busted!

heres my 2 cents. IPs are worthless unless you use 'static IP' which most ISPs do not.

they can basically track the post to your computer, under the patriot act they can probably link a post to a person, but we are not terrorists here.

AT&T is downloading the internet onto very very large hard drives, I'm more worried about that than anything.
