I'm thinking of doing 2 parts ocean forest, 1 part coco loco, and 1 part perlite. Has anyone experimented with mixing OF and CL?

My local store has both and i thought about it for next grow. Same mix u are talking about too. I went with ocean forest instead of mixing the 2 soils . and I'll tell you they blew up just gave strait water for a month after transplanting. Think it wouldn't hurt to do a mix like that tho

Short answer, yes. There as many soil or grow recipes as there are opinions in the world. For instance, by deck is covered in planters for our deck vegggies. Every type of tomatoe is in "my special blend". Its a local organic (who knows) potting soil mixed with perlite and coco. My outdoor watering is feast or famine so it helps me keep my maters alive when I get off the rails.

Folks have grown in pea gravel just as well as FFOF over the years. The big takeaway is to hhave a reason for each componenet you're growing in, and make sure your growing plan/technique is developed for your medium. You'll be fine man, you got this.

No sweat. As long as your putting in a component and not a brand name you'll make good progress. Alot of folks on here have killer advice from years of growing, others have only had a single grow (but it may bee exactly like yours) and their experiences are good sources of knowledge. If you see Dr. Who you could ask about your mix. Ive read alot of the Doc's posts about soil components/amendments/bennies.
