Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Some people only use dirt. Ive tried it with no success. Use the plugs and clonex, safer.

Get yourself a heat mat w/the temp. controllable thermostat. and also some rapidrooters and once you do it a few times you can get almost 100% success rate. I never had good luck going directly into soil, but try it and see......Good luck

How I have done it for years. the only problem is you can't see the roots developing so you have to wait for visual cues from the top of the plant. Or you could use a clear cup and put it inside of a darker cup.

you'll have better luck putting it into a glass of water. cloning in soil sucks.
Come on guys...
Just because you don't like to do something...
doesn't mean "Others" aren't experts at what you don't like or can't...

I get 100% success rate cloning in "Dirt"
LMFAO....
It's so much easier...
Newbies, Listen Up...
Get a bag of MG "Seed Starting Mix"
A bag of perilite...
A Bag of Vermiculite...
Mix 50% Seed potting mix...
with 25% Perilite and vermiculite....= 100% mix good so far? This is your medium...

Then fill 1/2 a red party cup with your medium...
Spray bottle dampen medium...misting...option use: Super Thrive in spray bottle...
Stick wood stick for your clone...into damp mix in middle...
Then fill remainder of Red Cup.... Spray Dampen your medium again...
Now cup is full with a "Stick" in middle...

Pick your clone... two nodes under soil... gentle pull off any growth on nodes to go under soil...
Use sharp blade to do the final cut to go under soil...
Sizzors/Snips will crush the tender membrane and the first snip off your plant needs to be re-cut sharper...
Dip Clone in water/super thrive [I have them pre cut and soaking for a few minutes]
Then dip them in Clone powder/gel it don't matter [I use powder]
Then pull out stick and put in clone...
I trim leaves to fit inside red cup...
I then have pre cut clear upside down cups that I use as domes...
I put dome on...
If clone droops I prop up with tooth pix or similar...
I clone 6 clones per week... I never loose any....
It's easy...
My cloner cost me nothing... haha I re use party cups over and over...
I put clones hung on stable hanger shelve direct under and in front of CFL's and Aquarium lamps...
They root in two weeks... I transplant 3-4 weeks...
Every week 5-7 clones...
It's so easy....

Would a clone directly into soil survive?
What is the process like?
i already baught my clone gel and rapid root start..
Yes.... Don't listen to these guys, that do not really like to clone....
Cloning is fun, easy, and so easy to "Master"
Cloning is being god to your plant....
You are it's master...
You made it... You grew it from dirt and a small twig...
Now... You are on to it...
Cloning growing harvesting smoking....
I really can't decide which I love best!

Yup its fine, do it all the time, take ya clone, trim the leaves a bit n just chuck it into nice damp seed starter soil n then leave it on the floor of ya veg area

Same here... I've done it with and without humidity domes. If doing without a dome frequent misting is needed from my experience. I've also left them outside, weather permitting, in a shady spot for a few days and slowly introduce more direct sunlight over time.

I dont even bother with domes mate, providing they are in a shady enough area but still receiving light, the soil is kept nice and damp and they are nice n warm they normally pop roots in 2 weeks max

i thought they needed humidity to survive as they have no roots for feeding? ive never cloned to soil always to propogator, under 300 cfl misting the lid of the propogator twice daily,
rooting usually takes me around 10 days.

I would not place them into soil. because I have to depend on the success rate of the plants. if just 1 plant clone fails there is 3 zips wasted . hydro only way to go . but if you can risk it soil might work.

Every growroom is different. Some are fairly cool down near the floor where some keep their clones. The key to cloning is keeping the medium damp not wet and 78 - 80 degrees. If you can meet those conditions then you will have success. the op is a newbie thats why I recommended a heat mat and rapid rooters. Theres always more than one way to skin a cat.:-P
