Can I start seeds in MG soil?

I've got some seeds at the moment, after they've germed, can I pop them into some MG soil with perlite?

It feeds up to 3 months and stuff.

Would they be okay?

NO, NO, NO! If you use strong compost like MG on seedlings you will find that some die before breaking the surface. Spend a few £ on some cutting/sowing compost (it's as cheap as...something very cheap), then transplant into MG when they are a few inches tall. Less risk, more buds!

Seed starting potting mix mg with equal parts perlite.. I've never used anything but mg with fantastic results. After the seed starting mix . Equal parts perlite and the African violet mg..I've never had a plant die or have issues because of mg... the organic isn't time released if you have issues with mute balls.... only use their bloom booster it has everything you need but magnesium sulpher and calcium so calmag or Epson. Start light once the veg nutes fade.... I love it. Never even considered switching to fancier brands

I've had seeds pop then never sprout through using "feeds for 4 months" compost. When sowing/cutting compost is so cheap why take the risk? MG is great for cannabis, just avoid any strong fertiliser on seedlings/cuttings...basic common sense.

LOL.....YES .....you can germ in mg soil I do it all the time.....What can I say they sell the shit everywhere:).....one thing I do is,I have a 5g bucket with 3/8in holes in the bottom I use to screen out any big chunks in the MG and add perlite. It makes a nice soft soil for seedlings.Don't listen to the naysayers,if it didn't work it wouldn't sell.GL.

Chances are that had nothing to do with mg. Seed was probly to damp rotted etc.. I don't think its a "risk" at all. It has the same amount of nutes as their barely fertilized perlite. And will only last the plant realistically 3 weeks. Just because you've had sprouting issues doesn't mean it had anything to do with mg. It happens in all mediums. Maybe next time try humidity dome or heating mat if you don't have one...anyway not trying to be confrontational I've just been using mg for a veeeery long time and I always see people knocking it. Usually when they only used their first grow too

Hang on.. 3 WEEK feeding MG? not 3 MONTH feeding MG? That's quite a difference. My point was simply that I have had issues before with multiple seeds in the long lasting MG, you could be right, there may have been other contributing factors however I have never had issues when using sowing/cutting compost and would simply like to pass this on to new growers. http://www.scotts.com/smg/goprod/miracle-gro-potting-soil/prod70332/ is the one I had issues with.

I also use MG "Seed starting mix" [50%] when I start clones, or seedlings... with added perilite [25%], and vermiculite [25%]... So the short answer is YES you can...

I have spent the last hour reading threads pertinent to this issue. There are lots of knockers and not all of them are first growers. I have never used soil to grow weed, and to clarify I don't have a germing issue. But you are right I haven't tried the stuff first hand, so I really cant argue with you. There also appears to be a lot of different types of mg soil mix as well as a seed raising mix as just described .

Ive always germed in the same soil i'll be transplanting in,my only issue with the miracle grow is its not hot enough.Your always gonna need some added nute(calmg, epsom,N).Like Qwizo said 3month feed, more like 6 week ....seriously....its for houseplants not cannabis which can veg for 3 months.....then what?Im only using MG because im doing a perpetual 12/12 and plants are done in about 90 days(21? for veg,70? for flower).peace

View attachment 2732734View attachment 2732735....i cant find the plant shots from my mg grows...but here's some bud shots from those grows...I started w mg...nutes soil n all....germed n em n popped em rite in straight mg soil....is not awesome but it works...u just gotta watch what ur doin...watch ur water...dont feed...everytime u water u release nutes so its not ideal for the plant...but some strains do good in it...ive had healthier plants since I switched soils tho.View attachment 2732742View attachment 2732743

I normally start my seeds directly in the dirt whether it be MG, supersoil, fox farm ocean forest, whatever...they all work. people have said ocean forest is too hot for seedlings as well as MG but i've never had a problem with anything i've started in those soils...just pop the seed in, give it some water and wait. i think we tend to overthink growing this lovely plant especially as noobs! keep it simple, grow it like you would a tomato and you'll do fine. grow some decent buds then while you have some smoke, start another grow and experiment with that batch. have fun with it. if you're worried about the high cost of seeds get some regular ones and produce your own seeds...that'll give you plenty to experiment with.

I started 8 seedlings in MG moisture control with perlite 50/50 and they all thrived with nothing but water and light
