Can I still clone after starting flowering?

I put my one plant into flowering to check the sex now that it is bigger, and it is a female because there are some white hairs showing on the top bits but I really want to clone it now and save it as a mother....can i switch the cycle back to 18/6 and still clone, or do I have to stick it through to full flowering and throw it when it's done?

I have had my 4 females flowering for about 5 weeks now. Have you ever pulled a clone from plants that long into flowering? I would love to clone these instead of starting from scratch.

Yes. Watch for bud rot. It takes longer to root.

I am doing it now and yes it does work but it takes FOREVER to get back to veg mode!!!!!!!!

So is it better to switch back to veg cycle 18/6 now or just take a clone now, and leave my plant on a flowering cycle/?/?

Veg cycle, definitely. I've put mine on 24/0 for about a month now, and a few are starting to show new growth. I have been using very low wattage CCFLs (not a CFL, different beast), and as soon as we can get those damned shop lights they're going under fluoro until we can get HID lighting for full-on veg. Anyway, once they're transplanted and I have my lights, they're gonna go on something like 18/6.

I didnt see anywhere where you said how long you were flowering for but technically you could do either. How tall is your plant? If it is a pretty good size I would say take some clones now. If you haven't cloned before make sure to take a couple extra and read up on different techniques of cloning. It also depends on what lights you are using. If you are using a HID then you can get away with growing something alittle taller before flowering but if using CFL's then flower at a shorter size and try to keep it super bushy.

Thanks for all the info...it is not very tall, about 12" to 16" but I see a couple good spots to take clones from near the bottom...it has been flowering for about a week...there are just a few pairs of white hairs showing on the top areas...the light is a 400W hps with a electronic ballast now...and I have a small plastic greenhouse thing for starting seeds that I was planning on putting the clones in with some veggie seeds I have started but it only uses a 23W plant tube flourescent with a heating pad underneath...Should I start the clones under that set-up, or under the same hps light as the mother because it is on an 18/6 cycle??? I can't wait to take some cuttings for clones to see how they work out.

The past month, I took a clone from a plant that was outdoors and flowering for a week to three weeks. The clone seemed like it took 2+ weeks to root... and its still has white hairs on it exactly how they were when I took the cutting... However the hairs on the very top are browning / away, so It will be awhile before the plant actually vegges and grows again

If I were you I would try both and see which is more successful with your conditions. On a side note clones don't need much light.

Isn't it actually better if they don't have a lot of light? At least, in the beginning as they're growing roots?
