Can I take plants from 18/6 to 12/12 then back to 18/6 when Sex Shows?

Hello RIU,

I am a Major Noob, that said I have a bunch of healthy bag seeds growing.

Here's my question, do to my setup and my mixing the ages of my 20 plants all under the same lights.

My Veg space had 3 - 95 watt lights T5 CFL's covering my E n B system with 4 10 gallon tubs.

can I flip the time in my Veg space to 12/12 and flip it back to 18/6 when sex shows on first 8?

since I have plants that are max 20 days apart in age should I wait or can I do the flip when the older plants reach maturity. The 8 oldest are at 47 days now.

Am I nuts??

Is this a bad Idea??
I know it's stress on the plants but its a weed it should take lots of abuse, right?

Im surprised growing for peace said it PERFECTLY fine, you are going to stress them and you are doing this because you think it will show the sex?..well it would work but i suggest running them on 18/6 and just sitting them in the dark for 2 days..it tricks the plant into thinking its time to flower, and it has always worked for me, but whatever makes you comfortable with, im surprised just switching them to 12/12 didnt show you something????

A lot of growers do this, if your going for a nice long veg time it sucks to have to waste light, space, nutrients on males. So they sex em and then cull males and flip back to 18/6. They hardly get stressed its more of a readjustment time.
