Can I take single leave clones & other Q's.

Hi,

I am cloning using an Aerogarden. I am dipping the stem in clonex and then putting them in the Aerogarden.



The two left most plants are from the same mother and seem to be doing well. The rear one has good roots and is growing despite the crispy leaves. The rear one is going to stay in the aerogarden as a mother the front one I am going to move into coco, veg for a while then flower.

The other two where taken 24 hrs ago. They look droopy and sad, is this normal? Do these have a chance?

When I am taking the clones I am taking the younger branches with a few leaves. Should I be doing this? Can I just take single leaves?

How long should I let the roots grow before moving from the aerogarden into coco?

should be fine... I'll take clones with whole branches on them sometimes... =) I use the leaf as a barometer to if they're going to take or not.

IF they are drooping, you might want to up the humidity. Most cutting will droop a bit in the beginning anyway just from the initial change, before they get to absorb some more water. Roots can take a while so be careful when checking for them that you don't break off tiny roots that are just forming. That will harm and can kill the cutting depending on how badly it is ruined. Also, imo, go easy with the root hormone or you might end up with a big callus on the stem instead of roots for a couple of weeks.

Thanks, I had been putting dome's over them but that just seemed to speed up how quickly they got droopy. Should I keep trying with domes?

Also I haven't been spraying, I figured the aerogarden gives them all the moisture they need.

When I check them I pull the whole plastic basket out so I don't think I am harming them.

spray the dome, not the plants.. this will keep the rh up, but wll force the plants to grow roots in order for them to get the moisture they need..
take the domes off about 2x's a day, for a good 10 or so minutes each time..

I just put some domes on them. Out of curiosity how come I need to take the domes off a few times a day? I put an airstone in the aerogarden, wouldn't they get air coming up from there?

The air will get stagnant around the leaves and such which can cause mold. ESPECIALLY with high humidity. Air flow is always good with plants unless you are worried about spreading something (pollen,bugs,etc), but those plants should be in quarantine anyway at that point.
