yeh normal rooting powder/gel works fine. you could top now but if you do you will prob end up with a wider than usual plant (possible not an issue). recommend topping around start of flowering cycle.

your top is going to become a clone? I think that's what you're saying so I've included in the - rough - diagram for you.

good luck with that,,I previously topped 2 Big Bud plants,,and ended up with one plant 13 inches,,and one was 17 inches tall,,in the end,,I did scoop 6 dry ounces off them,,smoked for almost 2 and a half months for free,,I currently have 4 plants growing,,2 under a 430,,and 2 under a 600,,all 4 have been topped,,I did strip off the lowest 2 nodes on them in the beginning,,and then let them get almost 10 or so nodes high in 6 weeks of veg,,2 were topped identically,,so I have 24 flowering arms(12 arms each),,almost all are 28-32 inches high,,these are in a 2 by 2 space,,so they show a pretty even canopy

1 plant is topped to have only 10 flowering arms,,,has 3-4 high min arms on her,,and has a few shorter arms,,but more stick like,,they stand about almost 3 feet tall,,,

and 1 is topped to have 8 arms,,it has the shortest main stalk,,but is the tallest at over 3 feet,,and the fattest lushest looking plant,,

these 2 plants do have more space than the others,,2 feet by 4 feet,,

not sure if it depends on the strain,,or space and lighting,,but be ready for anything,,

done around five weeks or so,,and given a week to recover a lil then put into flower,,here is a pic of the tallest plants 8 arm stalk at 10 weeks old,,the stem is about 6 inches,,the plant is over 3 feet,,hope this helps in any way

Keep on Growin
