Hey, I just got a 100 watt halogen bulb. Is it possible to grow using one of those? How far away should the light be? I'm asking for distance because it fried one plant in a matter of 15 minutes from 8 feet away.

no they put out more heat then usable light for plants if you use one it will keep frying your plants. you should get a hps mh or some cfls. read the grow faq at the top of the page

yes but it will fry them...If i were you go to home depot check the outdoor lighting section and they should have 60-100w CFL' bulbs sold as replacements for the security lights. and they will work much better then halogen:mrgreen:

Excelent, I was afraid of that but you guys seem correct and it is better to know this information than to risk ruining yet another crop and suffering more months of set back. Thank you guys, I will take both of your advices. Much appreciated!

I've already read the grow faq several times, but the tips it has are pretty darned useful and it never hurts to re-read it, heck I can't stop reading it in my freetime just because it has so much great information. Thanks!

If you're strapped for cash then use some CFLs with reflectors. You can get some nice results with 42 watt CFLs from Home Depot in a micro grow.
