can I use extension cord on 240 current?

Considering you are only pulling 1.7 amps for a light, a single light fixture, how would you improve on this information, say the outlets were rated at 120 and you needed a 220 rated outlet where one befound online. What gage wire would you chose to power the light pulling less than 2 amps. Plus, would you choose an independent ground, if so why?

I repair welding power sources for a living. Please do not do anything with that outlet.

So you have 3 wire 240 going to a 120 outlet. Whoever moves into your house after you is gonna kill themselves trying to fix your mess.

me too. and did you see all the asbestos in the ceiling tiles and wall insulation? there's a reason for electric code in the US.

And that entire power source is on its own line I had ran to my room
