I'm a newcomer to growing and I could use a little bit of help from others with more experience. I have the time to invest, but want to learn how to do things the right way. I would like to start off simple and have approximately $12,000 dollars to invest. My intention is to grow two different ways. I would like to try the hydro-phonic and sea of green and maybe dirt, but I am looking for feedback on which two methods would be the best to start with that will also quickly produce the most yield. I plan for the growing to occur indoors in an empty house, where the basement and attic could also be used in addition to the main open space. My expectation is to yield at least 20 lbs between the two growing methods. I could also use some recommendations as to how to set up the growing areas in order to produce the best lighting, airflow, temperature, etc. Also, I am looking for good websites that are credible, secure, inexpensive, and trustworthy to order seeds, lighting, and other materials from.

Here's my question, have you grown before? Do you know the basics of growing? If not, you'd better get to learnin'... hehe
That's a mighty big undertaking ;)

Go invest $1500 and try growing a few crops. It's a lot more work then you think, and even with that small of an investment you can make a profit.

But I don't think one person can reasonably handle a $12k setup, let alone one noob. Start small

Are you a med-legal grower / caregiver in a MMJ state? Sure hope so... Wouldn't try something that big if I wasn't :)

Do you have any friend that grow?

If you know some one who is a proficient grower, get some help. I wouldn't wing it, not with that much cash.

shit if u have 12,000 buy a ticket and fly to canada or amesterdam and get ur seeds... come back... start a mother plant then your cloning process, then set up some 4x4x8 grow tents each with 600 watt hps, and proper ventilation... if you can contain all your tents in one space or room you'll probably only need one air scrubber... i use four tents and have kush strains that finish at 8-9 weeks, i harvest about every two weeks... im trying to double and go to 8 rooms so i can harvest every week.

i order most equipment off ebay... and have it delivered to another spot.

Yes possible, people do it all the time. Practical for you to go out and get started tomorrow, unlikely. The first think you want to do is go out and buy a few books on indoor growing (I like the ones by Mel Frank and Ed Rosenthal, but there are many other good books out there as well), and read them, then think about what you read, then read them again :) Next start small, but with the intention of going big. Don't go out and get 10-20 1000w's, get one or two, buy some top notch genetics, and get a crop or two under your belt and play with cloning. Everyone will tell you it is easy to grow, and with minimal experience, this is true. However for someone who hasn't grown before there is a learning curve and most first crops or two are disappointing to their growers. I would suggest doing a first grow in soil, then second grow in hydro (or half and half). The soil is cheaper to get going with, and you will learn a lot from your first soil crop. Maybe play with automatic watering systems, since the parts and experience will help a lot with hydro setups. Hydro has a much sharper learning curve, but has a lot of benefits as well.
