I made a very similar point during an undergraduate lecture to attempt to troll a lecturer who seemed a bit up herself and unwilling to engage in debate. It worked. Bitch went mental and signed up to leave the college 2 weeks later.
Then with the knowledge, we keep them from cross breeding and use them to our own ends. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying things need to change. We should always be crossbreeding plants and making new species.

Some times, being right is simply not important (in politics it is spiteful). And remaining constant in ones quest to challenge accepted reality in the face of ridicule is a quality we need more of in the human race if we and the planet are to survive.
