Can or should i Top more?

New to this, opinions/comments are welcome. Just trying to learn all i can. These are about 40 days, give or take. I topped the one on the right a little over a week ago. And was thinking of doing the one on the left now. They are in 25 gallon fabric pots for size reference.

It depends on your over all plan... if SCROGing or lollipoping, no...

If you're going for wide... you can top the lateral branches after a node (on the branch), so it can grow two more tops from the remainder... and/or LST... a lot of the same effect, no cutting, less stress on the plant... don't forget you can clone anything you cut off too

I top and top the tops and top the tops i topped.

Thanks for the quick response! I have thought about making some clones! I'm not sure at this point and open to ideas. I think wide would be better with my limited lighting. The left one is a Cheese hybrid, so it may get taller? And the other is an Incredible bulk indica dom. I'm working with some small Led fixtures, and a few CFL's that are being used for an flowering Auto i have off to the side finishing soon. I don't have alot of horsepower as far as lights go.. So that's a factor.

If you aren't putting it in flower for the next week or so the answer is always yes

Why such huge pots? They make your plants look small, lol. FWIW, I use 3 and 5g pots for plants that get 4-6 ft tall. If you don't have a lot of lights, I can't imagine 25g pots are necessary. When it comes to keeping the canopy even, I cut as much as I want in veg, but only super-crop in flower.

I'm doing an organic live soil grow, which i read requires at least 15g pots. 15 or 20 gallon probably would have been ideal. But these were on sale.

I'm thinking another month of Veg. And doing some pruning of the leaves nearest the ground since they don't get much if any light.

I'll do some more topping tonight. I've been letting the smaller one catchup in growth before messing with it too much.

is totally right. You can easily/cheaply add more CFLs or LEDs for lighting... and you'll see great improvements in grow for every what you put in and make that big pot work for you... next time, just go as big as you need... I think about 1/2-1/3 the size the plant you want might be a good ... yeah, bigger gives you a greater margin for error, but 25 is def overkill... You could be doing more plants in there... or make your space smaller and more efficient...

Some people will (strongly) disagree, unless you mean in terms of topping... but I've heard a lot of different takes... do whatever's gonna fit your plan/environment best... I like to try different things and see what may work best for different situations.

Where'd you get that?

I'm doing organic coco in 3 or 5g smart pots. I bought a 30g smart pot for a lemon tree I have to bring in during the winter, lol.

One thing I've learned after 5 years, don't be afraid to cut a plant in veg if you need to. I typically top at node 3 and 5, but depending on what else is going on, I may hit a few of the taller plants a couple more times.

It was a thread on this site, where a guy asked if a 15 gallon was too big. I pulled what i could from the responses and research and my own shortcomings/errors that may occur. I check on ny plants every day. But occasionally i do go away for days at a time and didn't want to have to worry about watering

Yeah that's the size I use for my lemon and mandarine... I'd LOVE to get a cann plant in there... but with indoor only, I couldn't mange that beast in my space...

I've used live organic soil for micro herb gardens in the kitchen... like, tiny... I am gonna do it again soon

Here's the auto, I'm pretty sure i stunted by starting in a cup first, but is now in a 5 gallon.

...go check out the organics thread... they're all up with the latest things and are damned helpful... this whole site is... well... not so much the politics threads, that's just a bubbling pot of rage waiting to explode, and often boiling over... but everything else....

Also, depending on what days at a time means, there's tons of solutions... from the fact that they can go days without water in veg (I water like twice a week maybe in my 3 gal pots, though it's wet here so they stay humid longer)... I can also think of 3 ways to water my plants while I'm away for a long weekend right now, I bet you can too

I have a hard time taking any of that seriously -- I've been using the SAME smart pots for 5 years. They are as good as the day I bought them. The funny thing is, I've been on the other side of this argument when someone was asking why I used such big pots, lol. I can't imagine my plants running out of water quickly in a 15g pot. The 3g do need to be watered every other day whereas I could probably go 4 or 5 on the 5g. It is nice to have the extra buffer when it comes to watering.

A lot of people start out in tiny cups, and even go to maturity in them beore trans planting to bigger things... esp when using non fem seeds, since they may get unwanted males... there's lots you can do to grow healthy small... and when transplanted, it takes little to no time to get that sucker shooting up nice... I got a plant similar to that as a gift, 2 in fact... both were lanky and taller than I would've liked... certainly looked puny next to the ones i set in 3gal from sprouts... but they both put on a lot of weight once I got them in their own bigger pots... the trunks not as thick, but thick enough, and the gangliness gave me a little more space in the plant for the light and air, so it worked out pretty well THough in the end I had unrelated issues and they had to go early RIP little ones, and may angels guard you
