Can plants grow in shaded area?

Ahah, I'll grow all of my plants behind my lemon tree. It get's at least 6-9 hours of direct sunlight. I'll probably grow one in my house also Under a cfl. That'll be the Purple Jem because that one is supposed to have low odor. I'm going to do my Ruderalis Indica in a cup. The Purple Mazars will be the last to be germed. I'll do them in 2-3 weeks from now.

I was wondering if any one has grown under a shade clothe? I was thinking of using it as a roof on my makeshift green house. They are sold in a few differnt typs, varing from 30% to 90%... I'm thinking 30% would be my choice. any advice
