can someone help me with my ph calibrations please

ok i got my ph calibration solutions 7.0 and 4.01 and its a hanna checker model i have tried and to calibrate it but i get a stable reading 7.0 then use the 4.01 solution and it got calibrated to 4.01 then i pore a glass of disteled water and try to read the ph level and it starts way high then graduly drops to like 6.0 then i add ph up to the gallon of water and check again and it barly raises it i finaly added enough ph up to it and got a reading of 7.09 but when i compare the reading to a test strip it reads like 5.5 whats up with this and when i add enough ph up to the water to get a good reading on a test strip and then test with the ph checker its like 10. something how could they both be so far apart...can anyone help...

replace the batteries in the meter with fresh then recalibrate. Give the meter a full 30 sec to a min to take a stable reading. if that doesn't bring the meter around, it's pooched. (maybe you let it dry up?)
